Why is it set at 12PM ET?
Is it like that for all time zones?
Can be get it changed closer to when the market closes at 4PM ET?

Welcome to the board smp!
Why is it set at 12PM ET??
It's always been 12 noon ET and it must have something to do with processing the transactions by the close of the market.

12 noon ET across the board. Which is 11 AM central, 10 AM mountain, 9 AM pacific, etc.

Can be get it changed closer to when the market closes at 4PM ET?
Many have tried but there has been no change. Someone emailed me a letter they wrote to the TSP board. I was hoping they would post it here and get others to send it as well.

Good luck!

Welcome sup!!! They won't come off the deadline and that makes it hard to trade, but it can be done!!

Thanks for the answers. If there was someway to get it changed closer to the end of the trading day, THAT would be one of the best tools to help reduce our risk.

Another newbie here, trying some daily IFTs. Do I understand that if I make an IFT before 12:00 Noon ET, those funds move the very next day? (nothing moves on the current day, correct?)

What if I make the IFT after 12:00 Noon?:worried:

Welcome criscolumbus.

An IFT made before the deadline is effective Close of business (COB) the day of the IFT.
An IFT made after the deadline will be effective COB the first working after the IFT. Think days the TSP is Closed, weekends, holidays.

Good Luck,

Yes to the 1st question. An extra business day to the 2nd.

Thanks for joining us!
