Interfund Transfer Restrictions -- Did it work?

James --- my sincere appreciation for all the research you've done and shared in respect to my original question about whether imposing the transaction restrictions actually saved costs like the administrators said it would.

A simple answer to the question, based on your research, is that it did not.

However, I can just see it now: they will claim, just as the administration has regarding the 800+ billion dollar so-called "stimulus" bill, that it would have been "oh so much worse" if they hadn't imposed the restictions. And then they will challenge you to prove otherwise, when in fact they can't prove their own claims.

While I would not want to claim that the restrictions directly caused more expenses, at the same time the empirical data would indicate that it didn't help, either.

I would certainly like to see the administrators relax the transaction limits a bit, at least for a while, to see if the cost curve was really affected or not.

Freedom should trump bureacrats every time !!!

Costs went UP significantly.

I'll have to go pull last year's data, but I know it was a lot.

I'll look at it this weekend and try to put together a posting on it.

Considering all that has occurred since IFT's were limited, the figure is pretty much in the mud. Being how the "projected savings" have turned into management cost, the idea is literally buried!

Added risk to individual TSP contributors due to limits on IFT's while attempting to successfully manage their accounts during the last two years, it's clearly evident limits should never been put in place. Jumping in and out to improve savings percentage is difficult at best Even a mechanical tech can see that.

Crawled out of the G fund on the 7th of this month, just to peek out a bit into I C S. Was about to skim the earnings until things went red the past few days. Still ok, hope this weeks payday contribution goes in tonight however, never know what Friday can bring! Will jump off at the next stop (up), life has tought me not to be greedy!
