I just Joined

I have just joined this forum, and honestly I heard good things about it, especially about the ebbchart, I just don't understand how to follow it.

Does anyone have some data on it? Looking for historical data of the ebbchart, dates, allocations, and what they mean in terms of inter fund transfers.

If anyone has them, I would be more than greatful.

You look at the spinney colored thingies, and then make your IFT accordingly... that's about it... :)

So, if the ebbchart says, for instance, X-fund for tomorrow, do I make the IFT effective today or effective tomorrow? That's the part I don't fully understand.

If Wednesday is x fund then on Tuesday before noon you would want to change (IFT - Interfund Transfer) to the x fund.

Thank you all. Has anyone ever evaluated the ebbchart, or are we taking for granted the reported returns?

Lets see if I understand this right......

If the ebbchart says to put your money into S Fund for tomorrow. I have to make an intrafund transfer by noon EST today for all my money to be in the S Fund tomorrow??

I think a lot of people here can vouch for the return shown by the Ebb Chart. We've watched it at work.

Now, sometimes it's been right on the mark. When he's in sync, he's hot- and I've seen gains that I didn't expect to see, and he's been exactly right on.

And sometimes it missed a little-and I've seen some losses. So it's not a hundred percent. But it DOES seem to be MORE accurate than throwing darts with your gut and your monkey. At least it's been performing pretty darn well.

One disclaimer- as always- (You heard it here first)-

Past performance is no guarantee of future results, your mileage may vary, and this offer is good, except in Nebraska. :-)

Yes= if any of the premium services you are following are recommending a move to, as in your example, "S" fund, on any given day, then you need to make your IFT on the TSP site before noon on the previous day in order to have your IFT effective in time. TSP moves the money overnight, but only on accounts where the request for IFT was placed before noon.

ANd one more note- it HAS been known on a few, very heavy days in the past, that some people attempting to make a move in the last ten or fifteen minutes have been unable to complete their transaction in time due to an overloaded server or internet connection problem. So your likelyhood of making a noon deadline goes up if you try ealier in the day. Don't wait until 11:58 if it's a really heavy day, because you COULD have an issue that blows you out at post time.
