Hello all, just thought I would introduce myself...Shane Cochran, aka BodyBagz, I was lead here by one of your fellow members, David Williams. I dont know that he will remember me, but we worked together at two different locations.

I am wanting to learn as much as I can about how to "work" my TSP to make it grow as much as possible...any advice is appreciated.

Looking forward to learning...Thanks!

"Events" ... that doesn't sound good...

methinks Frixxxxx is talking about the Sentiment Survey train (SS train), not the S-fund, as Mr. Survey was ranked #1 in the tracker last year (35+% return). Be sure to take the survey poll, begins wednesday; I think results are posted COB thursday.

We had 2 guys in the shop that got caught in the QRB...TSP is a reality to us now...

Oh no.

MAKE sure they know about this....

TITLE 10 > Subtitle E > PART I > CHAPTER 1007 > § 10216
Military technicians (dual status)
(f) Deferral of Mandatory Separation. The Secretary of the Army shall implement personnel policies so as to allow a military technician (dual status) who continues to meet the requirements of this section for dual status to continue to serve beyond a mandatory removal date for officers, and any applicable maximum years of service limitation, until the military technician (dual status) reaches age 60 and attains eligibility for an unreduced annuity (as defined in section 10218 (c) of this title).

Thanks, I will defitinately pass that along. Any chance you can clarify exactly what this means, in relation to them not being retained on the Guard side vs their Technician jobs? I know I will get asked after I send them the information...

No doubt...thankfully I love reading...and it seems I have a lot to do on this forum! Thanks for the welcome as well.

The link take you straight to the law. I suggest they take it to the union or a lawyer and get their advise/opinion. Many have used this law. It is designed so that a dual status federal employee can't be NON RETAINED on the military side if they have not yet made it to an unreduced retirement age...(typically 56 or so) on the federal employee side...unless...they are allowed to stay as a non dual status tech...which would be OK for them I'm sure. It's worth a union fight or an FLRA fight.

Now for them to use this, I think (but am not sure) they have to meet height/weight standards, pass pt tests, and such.

Ok...I understand, and I will gladly pass this along. If what we were told is true, 42 Techs statewide were non-retained on the Guard side...some as young as 51! Thanks for the information...

Hello BodyBagz and David. (never said that to David before, he's been around longer than me)

Welcome to TSPT.

A suggestion about the messages concerning QRB. Repost them in

TSP Talk Forums > Miscellaneous Stuff > The Day Job

Not being critical, just saying that this info needs to be out there for people who need it.

If the two sub threads, military and federal employees don't seem to fit, start your own.

This info seems to be too important to get buried in a hello thread.

BodyBagz, if you havent all ready, create a BodyBagz account talk thread and join the auto tracker.

regards

Welcome BodyBagz! Didn't see you come in. Best of luck!

Thanks David, for showing another TSPer the way. :)
