hate to get political but this guy is sharp!!

Rant

I think Tempest nailed it. No matter which party you vote for we, the little people, are screwed. Dem's and Repub's are all members of the same Country Club behind the scenes.

I voted for Bush and what a disappointment he has been. History will not be kind to him.

A war in Iraq that was later found to be unjustified because of bad intelligence and the guy in charge of the intelligence agency gets a medal and a fat retirement. BRILLIANT!

 1. Soaring inflation.
 2. Weak dollar.
 3. Increasing dependence on oil.
 4. A over whelming National debt.
 5. Additional debt from the Medicare Prescription plan we can not afford.
 6. No reform for Social Security.
 7. A load of veteran in the system and poor service for them.
 8. The start of the Baby Boomer's retiring.
 9. Immigration................nothing.
 10. Manufacturing base is gone to China.
 11. Created another agency called Homeland Security.
Can someone tell me what he did that was great and don't say the war. The guy that is the ring leader is still at large.

Wait he sent us that tax refund check after he was elected. I forgot about that. Gone to inflation! Hell he vetoed the bill to upgrade the lock system on the Mississippi because it was to costly. LOL Veto OVERRIDE!!! IDIOT!

Please someone send me a list of the great things he has done as President and you can not use protect the American people from terrorist.

And, I will add that all of our current front runners suck, IMO.

#1 on my list: Bush defeated JOHN KERRY!
Can you imagine how SCREWED we'd be if Kerry had won?????

#2 - Saddam Hussein is now taking a DIRT NAP, thanks to George "Dubya"

#3 - So far, no complaints from the White House INTERNS!!!:D

But, I am also dissappointed in Bush's lack of leadership and inability to fix the illegal immigration problem. He is finished and I'm ready for somebody else to take the reins. ANYBODY, BUT NOT ANOTHER CLINTON!

I was talking to someone while walking to lunch the other day.
Man I was on a tear [if I do say so myself] blah,blah,blah...
basically I told this woman back in the early 1960's ('61 or '62 thereabouts) my father-a lowly E-6 in the U.S. Army was able to pay for a new car, buy a house and save enough to put me through colleges (I was the only child, lazy in school and thus no scholarship.). My late mother aside from a few small jobs was a housewife (and a Great mom). I suppose we were part of the lower middle class. We didn't get a color TV till 1972. And you had to get up to change the channel.
Credit cards? Ha!!!! I still remember my dad coming home on pay day (they paid you in cash in the US Army back in the day) and he would put the money on the dining room table. She would collect it and I can close my eyes and still hear her say in her German accent "now this is for commissary (food), we'll set this aside (savings) here....." He made the money-my mom managed it. I got what I wanted-sometimes -other times -"We [we?] don't need that" "Get it out of your mind"

Fast forward about 40+ years later.

You know any couple with one income, a stay at home mom (or dad) who can put a down payment on a house AND put -at least-one kid-through college- while not being knee deep up to their eyeballs in debt?
How about a home equity loan for that Big screen TV, 4-wheeler and trip to Europe?

We blew it.

Those days are NOT COMING BACK.

No matter what party you vote for.

I know one couple, me. Wife stayed home to raise our one child, cause we didn't want to source the raising out. I did it working for the Feds also. And I was raised just like you, from the sound of what your childhood was like.

We got everything you mentioned above, no credit card debt, child in college. I really don't understand why more people can't do it, unless they just live way beyond there means. So I have no sympathy for people who think they DESERVE handouts from the government. Let'im work for it, like I had to. I'm sick to death of all the whiners and complainers. Take the fricking thumb outta your mouth and deal with it.

Sorry for the rant, I don't normally do this, but I'm so sick and tired of people bad mouthing America. And this wasn't directed to Tempest in particular, I just could meet his requirements of a one income family making it life without taking handouts form the gov't.

Oh yeah I wonder if I can get any carbon credits for my farm, I'm looking to sell the to get in on this carbon credit scam. :)

I'll defiantly give you number one. That's worth 50% in my book. I new there was something that could redeem him somewhat.

Number three is a no brainer.

Number two I feel very neutral about. Ya he's dead and he deserves it, but there are a lot of leaders that should be dead with him. Kim Jong Il, Hugo Chavez, Putin, etc. My point is we spent a lot of lives and money getting this guy only to find out that he was really a toothless lion.

I suppose given the choices that we had, he was it. The "C" student. :(

I like you guys, my wife was a stay at home Mom and still is. If you're smart you can make it on one salary, depends where you live, but where you live is your decision. I wouldn't live in a high cost area, it's unfortunate that some have to.

Yeah I just yearn for those good old Carter days.

On a more worthwhile note, I just want to give my thanks and respect to the men and women that made the ultimate sacrifice, which provides us with the freedom and security to have such a great country. Amen

You must be only 7 years old then.
No, actually a vote for Nixon was the first President. You must be a democrat. If in fact you think this President is doing a fine job, you are not a conservative.

I voted for Bush twice, but that does not change the fact. He has failed miserably with any similance of a conservative agenda, and has zero leadership ability.

I don't own a house yet, but I'm building up the equity. I'm married with two young children. I live in New York City (expensive). My wife stays home. I pay tuition for my younger son to go to school, the other one is in public school. I put money into savings every pay check. I act like savings is a bill. I have not used my credit card in almost two years. It's the credit card that ruins you.

Two years ago, I had over $4,000 (not much compared to many people I know) in credit card debt and it just never seemed to go away. There was always some "emergency" popping up. I finally took out a low interest loan of $10,000 and paid off my credit cards and put the rest into savings. That extra cash on hand came in handy when my car was stolen last year. I had to use $4,000 to buy another car. Now, I'm looking at finally finishing off the loan in two more pay checks. After that, I'll be putting away about $250 into savings every pay check. I also have always and still do give 10% of my earnings to my church. I'm able to do all that with just my salary, even in this high cost of living area. It's really about just living within your means, wherever you are.

P.S. To all who do not know who to vote for - GO RON PAUL! :D

Ron Paul says he didn't have anything to do with this, but I'm betting it's great ammo for the Dems(meaning HILLARY) to shoot at his campaign.

Raid on Ron Paul Dollar Maker

Secret Service and FBI agents raided the makers of Ron Paul silver dollars, Liberty Dollar of Evansville, Ind., early Thursday in a move likely aimed at stamping out an illegal currency.

The company started selling precious-metal coins stamped with an image of Paul earlier this year, with the first one made of silver available in July. Part of the marketing for the coins involved a promise that part of the sale price would be donated to the Paul campaign.

But if the raid results in the conviction of anyone involved, it is possible that the Paul campaign may have to return a cash donation made by Liberty Dollar.

The silver coins, which weigh one troy ounce, were sold for $25 each, with $5 being promised to help fund Paul's presidential bid. The gimmick fit in well with Paul's campaign promise to bring back the gold standard of monetary policy in which precious metals would back paper dollars.

So far, Liberty Dollar has donated $2,300 to the Paul campaign, a fact confirmed by both Paul's office and Bernard von NotHaus, who runs Liberty Dollar.
As a result of the raid, prices for the silver coins have skyrocketed, with Ron Paul silver dollars, which were available from Liberty Dollar at $25 on Wednesday, selling for $220 on eBay (EBAY) recently.

Coins made of other metals, such as copper, gold and platinum, were also available from Liberty Dollar for a variety of prices. Prior to last summer, the firm had produced generic liberty dollars.

According to von NotHaus, the government move follows his efforts to sue the U.S. Mint, which in September had published warnings that von NotHaus's products were "not legal tender." Von NotHaus says he sued the U.S. Mint for slander after that proclamation.

Speaking hours after the raid, von Nothaus said he expects charges on money-laundering and wire fraud. Neither the FBI nor the U.S. attorney's office would comment. But its clear something is coming, as the U.S. Mint declined to comment on the grounds that "litigation on the matter is pending."

The Paul campaign says it would likely return the donations if the money was deemed to have been obtained illegally. And that could very well happen if the charges stick.
Von NotHaus says the government agents had seized 500 pounds of silver, 40 ounces of gold, 3 ounces of platinum and 1.5 tons of copper, as well as taking all cash and computer records. Bank accounts were said to be frozen also.

The U.S. Mint says while it's not illegal to possess the Ron Paul money or Liberty Dollars, it is illegal to try to spend them.

Looks like the mint owner is hoping this trial becomes one where the monetary system is on trial. I wonder if he is hoping to have a Supreme Court case.

'Spectacular Trial' Is Seen in Case of Liberty Dollar
http://www.nysun.com/article/66642
The monetary gadfly behind the Liberty Dollar, Bernard von NotHaus, declared over the weekend that he expects to be criminally charged over his currency and is vowing "a spectacular trial" that will "put this country's monetary system on trial."

Since this thread is about Ron Paul, I figure I'll post this here. Some Ron Paul supporters managed to put together a nice full page ad that will be in the USA Today paper on November 21, 2007:
