Griffin Account Talk

I hear ya GGal...I think Griffin's taking a short sabbatical...sometimes a really good idea especially when you know things aren't all that great and there's some quiet beach somewhere where you can relax, have a pina colada, and wait until until it's BULL RIDIN time again. With the recent uptick over the last week...many are saying we're in for a tough week next week...but I'm thinking we have a good week coming about 4/6...At least I hope so..Someone, anyone ...wake me up when we hit bottom:D:D:D

Hi all,

I apologize from my abrupt departure, duty called...and called.....and called...and there is no end in sight. I've been working ridiculous hours in some remote parts of the world and I'm thankful that the end of the fiscal year brings a shortage of optempo dollars....whew! I haven't had the opportunity to make it back to the States yet, but I get the sense, from the snipets I've been able to catch, that fear is in the air. Fear means time to buy. Unfortunately, I've already been in the S-fund since last December but the good news (from my perspective) is the tremendous beating the I-fund has taken. I moved the whole kit and kaboodle over to the I-fund today. I know this violates the tracker noon deadline but my vacation is already almost over and it's back into the wilderness before too long. I do plan on picking up where I left off once this tour is over - whenever that may be. Therefore, I have to think in terms of years, if there is a place to sit the nest egg for a year, I think it's probably the I-fund.

I hate to ask a such a ridiculous question, but: did TSP ever implement the new transfer limitations? if so, what are the success stories out there under these conditions? I've got very little time, and any input is greatly appreciated.

Take care all,
G

Good to see you around.

IFT Limits are in effect and the results have been killing most of us.

WOW!! This is bigger than our 'Economic Conditions'

I had pretty much resigned to hanging out in the LOUNGE and PMs a few days back until I noticed your thread.

The 2 IFTs have been in place for what feels like ages and it's something we continue to dread dealing with:

BUT AFTER MANY MONTHS OF FIGHTING AND FLINGING MUD WE:

1) No longer waste our efforts attacking the FRTIB
2) Unamimously agreed to leave Barclays alone
3) Have accepted 'our circumstances' and have all agreed to not waste our time with negative energy...
4) And have decided as a group to stop pointing fingers at whoever we feel was behind the Economic Situation we're in

AND SIMPLY MOVE FORWARD.

So I'm thrilled to have you back and eagerly await your analysis of things to come.

Griffin,
Welcome back. Nice to hear from you. Best wishes to you and yours, and I hope you can keep in touch more often.

OK I am a newbie on this MB. Only a few months. But from the reaction of Griffin back on line means that the force is strong. The force is with us. Brighter days are coming. The dark side is afraid.

Hey Griffin,

It sure is great to hear from ya, :D. I sure miss your thoughts on how the market may react. As mentioned the IFT's are killing us, but before you left I was following your F fund strategy and made a little in a bad market. But then I was busted as one of the 553 bad boys and regulated to snail mail for 2 or 3 months which put me on the minus side. The 2 IFT rule is very limiting and in most cases has been a killer in this bear market. Very little strategy has come forth.

Since then, I've popped in and out of the market about 3 or 4 times, pretty much a day in the C and a couple in the F and then spending the rest in G. I'm back above zero, so I don't have any reason to whine or complain, since some of our other brothers and sisters here have really taken a beating. But since I'm only about 4 years away from retirement, that kept me very conservative and in a CP mode. Luckily before the the IFT limatation went into effect I was able to get over a year ahead of my retirement plan, thanks to you and our fellow guru's on the board.

I'm doing my gambling in my 2 ROTH's and buying as much stock as I can.

Hurry back, cause some of the newbies don't know what you and FS added to the board.
