Just introducing myself after following and lurking around on this site for the past few months. I am retired civil service and my husband is still working. He is eligible to retire and He keeps hinting at retiring, but he said as long as he enjoys his job and can keep out of the office he's going to hang in there.

He contributes to TSP, but he never moved his money around, so I have taken over this task of trying to make us the most money possible here.

So, I am reading this site daily and following what I see the "major posters" advise. I call the "major posters" the ones who seem to have been here the longest and appear to have the most followers. Since I have started doing this I have taken our balance up quite a bit.:D

I am really glad that there are so many of you that take your time to share your insight and knowledge.

Thank you.

Welcome and congratulations. It's never too late to take control of one's financial future. Of course, the sooner the better..........let's make up for lost time. ;)

Right now I have G 50/C 15/ S 25/ I 10........I only have one transfer left for this month. Please advise if you think I should change things around or leave them alone for now. Thanks.

I think I answered this in an earlier private message so I'll let someone else give you their opinion..............;)

You have one IFT left this month and as many IFTs to the "G" Fund as you like after your 2nd IFT!! So you could bail out if things look bad.:D

Welcome to the boards, SS. As you can see, there are as many ideas as to where to put your TSP as there are people on the autotracker/boards. Almost 700 on AT and over 6,000 members on the boards (last we heard from Uncle Tom). If you watch AT, you will see that no one gets it right every time, and year to year the top 10 changes completely. So my suggestion is that you use this board to get as much info as possible, then make your own choice.

Right now, the market is strong and I personally have been all in stocks, all year....just making one tweak. But you can go back and see how the top 5 or 10 changed their accounts to do even better!

Good Luck....and WELCOME!!

Welcome to the TSPTALK board and Congrats on retirement!!! Counting my Navy time, I have 32 years down and a few more to go... One of my favorite things about this site is the ability to track your account interest return gains Month to Day, Quarter to Date and Year to Date. You would think that the TSP site would have the same, but they only have your last 12 months and its only update the first week of each month. Have fun and good luck with your TSP accounts!!!

BTW, I was working at Naval Air Station Oceana when Cat 4 Hurricane Hugo tore through the Carolinas. I rode that one out to sea on an aircraft carrier, but far enough North where it did not rock the ship too bad. Thanks again for joining this outstanding site and spread the word, Thanks!!:cool:
