Anyone seeing the G paying out tomorrow, for Wednesday???
I have the G paying Thursday, with a very slight chance of Wednesday.

Anyone seeing the G paying out tomorrow, for Wednesday???
I'm thinking Wednesday (90%) with a small (10%) chance for Thursday.![]()
It could slow down a touch in August with rates dropping in July.
Here's a copy of an old email I sent to someone earlier this year explaining how I do it. The rate and price of the G-fund have changed since then but the formula is still the same:I'm curious if there is a thread you could point me to that explains how to predict when the G-Fund penny will drop?
I watch the current loan interest rate to determine the current rate that the G fund is paying.
Let's say it is currently 4.875%. That means it's paying .0134% per day
(4.875% / 365).
With the G fund currently 11.77, that means we make .00158 cents a day.
Divide a penny by .00158 and you get 6.33.
That means we should be getting the penny every 6.33 calendar days on
average, until the loan rate changes again.

It has been so long since I retreated to the G fund, what is the frequency the G fund is paying the penny? How has this sell off affected it? Thanks.Since August just started on Wednesday, if TSP is fair, I think there is a chance (50/50) that it could still pay Monday. But I agree, the 4.75% will slow it down and we could stay on that Monday payoff for another 3 to 5 weeks.
It's paying every 6.38 days now.

ok, does it mean that we have to be in the G fund first thing 12:00 Monday morning to receive it or do we still get it if we do an IFT MONDAY before noon? I see people doing IFTS by the COB, but I understood that it does not get posted to be in the system the next day if you do not do it by noon of that day. Other co-workers have conflicting understandings and no one seems to know for sure. Could someone please clarify this for us???![]()
To be "in" the G fund for Monday and earn the penny at COB, Monday, you have to move to the G Fund before noon on the preceding "business day" which is Friday. You have to IFT to the G fund before noon est. tomorrow to be in the G fund for Monday's penny.
When people here say "by COB", they mean "IFT before noon that day".
350z, buddnipper,
Thank you very much for clarifying this for us! I also shared the nformation on the day the penny drops and everyone thought it was most interesting, co-workers here did not know about it and neither did I.
Again, thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us!
To be "in" the G fund for Monday and earn the penny at COB,(close of business) Monday, you have to move(IFT/Intra fund transfer) to the G Fund before noon on the preceding "business day" which is Friday. (Saturday and Sunday are not business days)
If you were to move to the G fund on Monday (before noon, Eastern time) you would "buy" the fund at the rate set by the fund at COB that day. (profit = zero)

Is it paying because of the holiday being counted in / out?
