G Fund

how long have you been keeping this from us, FS??!!
Hmmm....I guess I never paid any attention to this thread and since I have Techy on ignore. I didn't realize he was predicting the penny. I did see that a few people were thinking it was going to be Monday and I just happened to look at my calendar (which has it marked). I figured I'd post. When I saw that there was a little mystery surrounding the penny, I figured I'd put in my 2 cent.

G-fund pays every 6 days (calender not working). If the payment date is on a weekend or holiday the payment is made on the next business day. The count for the six days is still from the calendar day the payment was due. Therefore the penny should be paid this Friday. The only caviot to this formula is a stutter every 9th week which causes the payment to occur on the seventh day not the 6th. This number of weeks to the stutter is decreasing due to increasing interest rates and increasing balance in the G-fund share price, but it is slow. So, I'll blow the crystal ball out of the water and predict the next payment dates of 9/22, 9/28, 10/4, 10/10, and stutter to 10/17. Highlight the payment dates on a calender and underline every sixth day and you will see the pattern clear as day. There really is no mystery.

Bottom line: this Friday

Thanks FS, possibly one of the most beneficial posts to date. You have found a law in a land of theories. It's kinda like what I tell my wife after we find an incredible new restaurant, "this is soooo good, we can't tell a soul." I wonder why TSP doesn't mention this in the g-fund fact sheet. Thanks for leading us outta the dark.

Since the interest rate on the G fund went down from 5% to 4.75% in September, my spreadsheet shows the penny coming on Monday.

Between MM, Fundsurfer, Fedgolfer and Griffin, they have found a new way of calculating the G fund....they all are "trashing" the Crystal Ball..(sort of like spin doctoring, self-approving of their "discoveries" to say the least and in the mean time discreting Carnac) and use their own "untried" method of predicting the G fund....very interesting tact I'd say.....since I calculate the increase date better than 95% of the time....now you should ask yourself why would they do that...could be they are trying to take you down a dark road themselves.....

I guess their method will be much better for the masses.....

Carnac "The Magnificient", Thanks Nnuut

Read my lips, I had this figured out "BEFORE" the great cognac even came along......................look back before you speak bucko............:notrust:

The only thing about it was you didn't use it, and haven't used it, wasn't hitting the increases on a timely manner, nor telling anyone of the increase dates...so what good was it....???/

You're leading innocents down the road of poverty the way I see it...

The payoff yesterday really upset the timing model we have easily enjoyed over the recent past.....I really couldn't feel safe on making a date prediction on the next increase seeing the recent delay in the last increase. I would be ready Friday even though I'm getting Monday as a possible date....

Carnac

Hope your model doesn't get thrown off again.............

As I said earlier, it wasn't worth the trouble...........please cease with the attacks, this the G fund thread.

Thank you.

Hmmm... This post actually has me worried I may owe Techy lunch. Time will tell. Using a spreadsheet and the interest rate which milkman and you apparently do seems like the best way to go. And to Techy's credit he does have a very well established track record. But, in for a penny in for a pound...I'll stick by my prediction of tonight.

Ok guys, this is good. If we can find a better method, GREAT. We have been working together lately and it really feels good not to have to read all of the negative comments that were flying around a few weeks ago. Why not have a little competition and see who can come closer over a two month period? That way we can really find out who has the best method.:D Next we can do the FV!!:o

You can follow what I said if you like, don't have time for pennies. Fundsurfer and myself provided information that can be tested by others. Not illusions and double talk...........

For those keeping track at home, I'm not predicting a penny, just hoping. I don't keep track of the numbers anymore. Just wanted to say something before cognac started giving me tonight................:D

I like the analysis that everyone is providing here at the G fund section and I thank you all for sharing that with everyone. However, this forum is supposed to be about learning from one another and not to prove who is better or who has a more reliable tracking system. I'm sure that our tally leaders will all agree with me that with all of the systems they are using, they are utilizing them to make an educated guess.

There is no right or wrong answer here. Everyone contributes and we let the readers decide for themselves which one makes sense for them. So before this DIALOGUE OVERHEATED, lets just wait and see when TSP puts out the share price for today.

Thank you all for your cooperation and for trying to make our readers understand the market and TSP. Now, who wants a HUG?

tick..tick...tick....who will be right?....question really is WHY it pays tonite or monday. I like the simplicity of the FS's 6 day theory ....4 minutes :)

As the Johnny come lately to this thread, I bow to the great Carnac. He was correct that the penny will come on Monday. May his crystal ball never grow cloudy.

Techy, PM me your address and I'll buy you lunch.
