Work more during the week and week-end as civilians and contractors are not allowed to work week-ends and nights (no night differential).

No biggie, hours are shorter here than ship duty ;)

I think I'll go to a few storage locker auctions, buy one or two, and liquidate the assets. Might make more than I may lose in the furlough. I hear we aren't facing furlough, but one must be prepared for the possibility.

This furlough crap is just that. A load of crap started by heads of agencies or HRM higher-ups that share the same liberal views as the "Fearmonger in Chief". There was an e-mail distributed throughout our agency yesterday. It simply said "Forward all completed furlough paperwork to your HRM Dept. immediately". You really think this is anything more than another way for the administration to turn up the heat by spooking more folks into thinking the the sky is falling because of this puny little spending cut? Obama acts like a spoiled brat. "Give me my revenue increase or I'll cry and scream and lie until I get it". Has anybody heard the latest? Obama is walking back some of his previous statements on how bad sequestration was going to be. Anybody know why? Polls show that the American public isn't buying the lie. Never seen a worse example of an American president in my life.

My son's starting pre-school in April, so I imagine I'll spend my furlough days thinking about how if I were allowed to work just that one frickin' day, I could pay his entire month's pre-school tuition. F'in rat-fink mother-scratchers.

Don't forget the Demogogue in Chief aka Campaigner for the New Way in Chief. The Executive Branch was not told in law exactly who to furlough and which local county teachers to lay off and..... (why the heck is the federal government paying local school teachers..)......pawns, pawns, being used....dang, if just cutting $85B, an amount equal to the Fed's printing in one month, stops the world, we need to move up the year we have the bang moment.

I just want to be on the record as saying I am both sad and disgusted that our fellow countrymen (some of whom served our country longer than I've been alive) are going to be subjected to this cruel slap in the face. Time to turn over congress, fire them all, every single one of them...Deleted

Well crap! Posting the above got me thinking about warmer temps, open water, and fish jumping in the boat. Then watched an All Employees webinar this afternoon. The way things stand today...emphasis on TODAY...no furloughs in our Agency. Taking the hit with a hiring freeze on 300+ positions, no seasonals (which is a BIG thing with us), and other fiscally responsible things...and no furloughs.

And, here and I wanted to go fishing!

Ive been a seasonal employee for 10+ years so I will be fishing among other things with loads of time on my hands.

Well, let's see if I have my math right. Get the 30-day notifications March 1...no deals reached means furloughs start April 1.

Walleye should start spawning sometime late March. Turkey season opens April 10. Plant garden end of April. Crappie, catfish, bass start waking up late April. Everything is jumping in the boat in May...

One extra free day per PP...I'm pretty sure I'll find something to do.

In reality I am preparing my equipment to plow under the rye grass as soon as the weather tells me to.

go surfing, extra day off living in hawaii has its perks

or if weather is uncooperative go running. trying to build up the fitness level to surf waimea before i'm too old to do it

Crappie fish. Spawn starts warming up in a week or two. When I get tired of that, Bass fish. If I need some perspective, I'll pick up my 9, 6, and 4 year old granddaughters after school. They have a way of making you look at things diferently.
