Semiconductor purchases are an indication of future expected trends (can be wrong) for electronic/ICT equipment (including computers). Then again, AMD has its own challenges, Intel's such a 100# gorrilla than I'd rather watch them.

Semiconductor purchases will slow down near the end of October, are cold in November, and pretty much dead in December and January. They need to be purchased to be assembled into those computers and other equipment far before Christmas; its no good if it's not on the shelf by early December. Then comes the January New Year's celebrations in Asia (another major market for electronics), so things don't start up again until mid-January at the earliest.
