Flooding in Southwest Utah

We've had two more inches in the last week than our normal annual average rainfall. Second "Hundred Year Flood" in the last five years. Now Mesquite area of northern Arizona is being hardest hit. Five homes swept into the river with three more on the verge. Thankfully, no loss of life yet.

Just west of where I live, the Santa Clara River is running 2,500 cfs, normal is 6 cfs. That's just one of the many rivers around here that are running out of their banks.

I sometimes grouse about the wind that blows here because I live on a hilltop. I'm not complaining about it now!

Arizona.

I could literally throw a rock from my wife's parents' winter home to where this is happening. Same neighborhood. They are up with us for the holidays and are hoping they have something to go home to in a couple of weeks. :worried:

It's good they are with you while this is happening Tom, otherwise you'd be crazy worried about them, not just their home.

Our river is running high, but we get 1-2 non-precip days between storms which keeps the river from rising too fast. but we still have a bit of snow and ice on the ground, and a bit more coming tomorrow.

slipped and landed on my rear yesterday at the post office, today I slipped and landed hard on a knee at UPS office, dang it. been a long time since I fell 2 days in a row. good thing I'm not 70 yet. :o
