Memories of 2008 - 2009...

031220f.gif

Memories....light the corners of my mind

Misty water-colored memories of the way we were

Scattered pictures of the smiles we left behind

Smiles we gave to one another for the way we were

Can it be that it was all so simple then

Or has time rewritten every line

If we had the chance to do it all again

Tell me, would we?
Could we?

I'm ready for a Sunday announcement about some divine government intervention. Remember back in '08 you'd be trying to watch 60 minutes and they'd interrupt for a 'special report' that Citibank or JPM will have unlimited access the fed lending window to help wind down their SIV's? PT would come in and prop it for the open then it slowly drifted away red into the close.

Dude,
This isn't 2008-2009 where the govt could actually do something.
The gov't announced yesterday it wanted to give each person 1,000 bucks and now were' looking to approve a multi-Trillion dollar stimulus package. ALL IRRELEVANT because we, our gov't (and most of the world) is going into total shutdown mode. No stimulus will make someone book a vacation or go out and buy a car, especially not knowing about furloughs or layoffs yet. After this massive gov't intervention announced, the last 2 days had a 5% rise followed by a near 10% drop right now.

Dealing with this virus is like, well, dealing with the flu...you just have to let it go thru its course, and we're like only in the 2nd inning on this one.
Don't try to catch what might be the sharpest falling knife in financial history

You obviously missed my sarcasm.

If we spoke in real life you'd know that I am very much against CB's and as a person with very minimal debt (which will be even less in two years when the mortgage is paid off) am looking forward to a deflationary future.

China seems to have a hold on their cases after what, a few months? No longer the second inning there.

When that check comes, it's going directly into my Roth IRA.

Difference? We're in the October-November mode from the get go. Could this be worse than 08/09? What are we willing to risk?

We are indeed in record territory right now. The C fund has fallen MORE than in 2008, and the S and I funds both have fallen FAR MORE than in 2008, and we are just slightly past mid-month.

So right now are we in:

February 2008 - 2nd month into this thing and 12 more months to go,
or
October 2008 - 2nd straight large monthly loss, still 5 more months to go?
