Federal workers in Brevard on average earned $85,984 in 2007. Overall, Brevard workers earned an average of $39,230 last year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

I just wanted to say something about this. It isnt a fair comparison when you consider that NASA workers are highly educated ppl and most NASA ppl are engineers with 10+ yr experience. I know companies like Lockheed or General Dynamix or GE pay close to 100K+ to aerospace engineers with the same or less experience. They are also comparing NASA employee salary to someone working at McDonald's.

Yes, Comparison of jobs in the private sector against Fed jobs can be skewed on location but the last part of the article stated:

The bulk of federal jobs here require at least a bachelor's degree, driving up the pay scale.

I think that will empower those who want it to get the education needed to perform those jobs. But then again, who (and I mean what education level) reads the paper anymore???
