How complicated is it to figure out the estimates?

It depends.

1.-The easiest way is to use ChemEng's Spreadsheet. He' is the one who taught us all how to get estimates and gave us his spreadsheet (Thanks).

2.- If you don't mind being off a penny or two then use ChemEng's short formula: (%Nikkei 225+%Euronext100+%FTSE 100 - %dollar) * (I-Fund) +I-Fund.

3.- If you want a quick estimate use EAFE from Bloomberg.com at
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/quote?ticker=EFD:IND# (after 2:30 pm get it from MSCI at http://www.mscibarra.com/products/indices/stdindex/performance.html)

If you want to be exact and to the penny 350z has the answer.

All kudos to Mr. chemEng for all his hard work and for giving us his quick formula and his spreadsheet. There use to be a link for donation to him for his spreadsheet. Find it and use it.

Need to wait on an updated spreadsheet from ChemEng... symbols have changed for Ireland and Portugal.

Rod, thanks for the heads up. I am on TDY this week to beautiful Fort Monroe. I will try to change it while here. If not it will be this weekend.

Instincts were right but a day early. Should have waited until today to move the rest from F to I instead of doing it yesterday.:(

It has been dead around here recently. I am going to try and start some conversation...I am tired of looking at the same message for 2 hrs at a time.

The "I" looks like the biggest loser today, is anyone jumping in and playing it out ?

The "I" is also the laggard for 2008, are we near the bottom YET ? Doesn't the bank of Japan meet this week ? Will they cut rates ?

Also on a side note, Big Thanks to Rod for starting this thread..It proves to all of us how valuable 350 is...

This flip-flopping market will be the death of me. Gut tells me it will be down tomorrow, too, but I'm always wrong.

IMO... we got way more momentum to the downside and the low was around 1270. If there's a retest... I dont want any part of it. That said, tomorrow could be a nice one day trip in the "I" fund if certain stars align or if the dead cat decides to bounce. Bank of Japan will probably hold (too much talk of inflation over there).

I'm with you on getting more conversation started but the nature of this market probably has a lot of prognosticators spooked. I wish we could get a couple of good up days -- but those who have the market shorted seem to be in control for a little while longer. Last week was nice but I didn't catch any of it. I have my finger off the trigger right now, but my sights are aligned ready for the next target.

Just a guess!

Yes, I'm going to DCA in 50% to the I-Fund today.

NICE!!!! from now on, I will couch all IFT terminology exactly like you!!! You would OWN Ms. Ray in a debate !!! :)

Sorry to sidetrack....

back to I fund talk.... I think the talk of more regulations in the credit rating bizz is a healthy thing for the europeans to be discussing.

I just tried my hand at figuring out the I with the equation given but I can't find or figure out what percentage to use for the dollar. Yahoo isn't helping since it's not showing percentages for the gain/loss versus the Yen and Euro.

Anyone have more of a clue than me as to what I should be looking at for the dollar?

Just a guess!

I am going to hope for a big -FV and go 100% I. Roll the dice for a day or two ?

For the dollar I use:

http://quotes.ino.com/chart/?s=NYBOT_DX&v=dmax&w=1&t=l&a=0

Remember if the dollar is up then enter it as - or if it is down then enter it as +. It has an opposite effect on the I-Fund. It is good when it is down and it is bad when it is up (just like today it is up 1.01%. That hurts if you are in)

Also Don't forget the Nikkei is closed Sunday Night. I told 350Z I would remind him of this.

I will remind everyone again in a couple of Day's.

Right now the USM are down enough to have a - UfV today. (I hope I don't jink it by saying something).
