Fans of Joss Whedon, You Know Who You Are!

Browncoats Unite!

For you "Firefly" fans, just wanted to make sure that you know about the hourlong 10th anniversary special on Science Channel next Sunday, November 16, at 10 pm EST.

Browncoats Unite!

I still say they should rerun the Firefly series, (of course this time in order) and see just what kind of following they would generate.

Those DragonCon Firefly panels were always standing room only.

So it sounds like there are several of us on the MB who are Firefly fans. Very cool! It's SO nice to be talking about commonalities again. I have the DVDs of the Firefly series and the Serenity movie and watch them all the time.

I know that there are comic books ... ahem, graphic novels that bridge the time-line from the last Firefly episode to the start of the movie, but the reviews on them are mixed. Anyone here seen one? If so, what was your opinion of it? Was it good enough that a die-hard Browncoat, but one with half a brain, would spend shekels on it?

The comics are worthy. I enjoyed them for the anti-climatic tale of the men with "hands of blue". Love that episode and the comic was a good way to move that story on. (Trying real hard to not put spoilers out there:cheesy:)

I watch Firefly and Serenity a lot and was lucky enough to see the cast at Dragon Con a few years ago. It's great that everyone is still working. Have you seen V yet?

I just caught Josh Whedon on the This American Life performing the commentary song for Dr. Horrible. I own the DVD and had no idea that the cast commentary of the 45 minute web-series was also sung. It is hilarious.

I wasn't as impressed with the 3rd episode as the first 2. Although it was nice to see a larger story arc developing on top of the serialized plots.

Somewhere on the net Dushku said that in Episode 5 the show really picks up. It will be interesting to exactly what she means.

*Also, Watchmen opens next week. Excited, much? :) <--wishing there was a drooling smiley.

Well, I have seen 3 episodes so far and I must admit, I am intrigued. It took the 3rd episode to tell me that there is something to be intrigued about, but by the third ep (in whatever order FOX requires of the first three eps), I think I see where Joss is starting to take us on his journey. The end of the 3rd ep had a remembered friendship after they should be whipped clean. That's intriguing. The FBI guy being dupped by the Dollhouse with one of their wiped agents just makes me yawn. What is happening in the dollhouse and what happened with Alpha? Very Dark Angel, but I'm hoping for an evolutionary leap. Joss,...where are you taking us? And will it be as good as Firefly and Dr. Horrible? As long lasting and hopefully longer? Can you end Omega Five like you did Firefly with Serenity? (Just hoping :D). I will continue to watch.

Hi all,

I know you have all been waiting with held breaths for the new Joss Whedon project. Well, your wait is only 7 days away as on the 13th, Dollhouse will premiere. Oh the joy... Wait....What this....It's on FOX and the first episode 'Ghost' is labled 102? What happened to 101? I'm getting a sinking feeling.

Remember when FOX premiered the second episode of Firefly (Train robbery) instead of the real first ep because they were afraid that the audience wouldn't get it with the original planned premiere? Well, what are we seeing now or is it Joss who is second guessing his creation....

Well, we will see soon.... I am happy that the some of the women from the Women's Murder Club are in it. That was a good show which ended before it's time (20 seconds of silence please).

And what is with only having an ad campaign start only one week before the premiere. Most only shows have weeks if not months of advance warning (advertisement) for their premiere.

I will watch and watch as I have faith in Joss. He has yet to provide a disappointing ride:D

Friday the 13th on FOX - The Dollhouse (A Whedon fan - not a FOX employee:cheesy:)

Okay....maybe a little behind you "nerds", but you can still catch all 3 Acts, but now with a little commercial interlude between Acts at www.drhorrible.com

I have no problem with Joss trying to recoup his expenses <g>....and I'm happy to be able to show the wife this latest <g>....she was out of town when the "free" version aired....it's impressive...the "sponsors" he's pulled are varied....wathched it several times, and haven't seen a duplicate yet (Dove, Best Buy, etc)

I've had these dang songs floating around in my head (and I don't have an iPod !), so I'm glad to be able to "Sing Along"....

Stoplight....

I just received the Dr. Horrible DVD in the mail from Amazon.com for ~$10 and it is very worth it for more that seeing the blog again:D

The extras are helarious. The applications to the ELE submitted by hopefuls was great.

I would highly recommend this DVD of Joss's latest work. Enjoy.

Know much about the new series, "Dollhouse", he's doing for Fox ?

I heard that NPR had a brief news item about Dr. Horrible and how popular it was. I'm glad I could spread the word on a very entertaining (if sad) story. I remember how Buffy went DARK during and after her death (season 5?) and then Willow lost her partner and goes VERY DARK. Joss is a master at getting you laughing and then shocking you into disbelief. Good though:D

When I saw the promo for Dollhouse, I thought of two things in this order: It's a twist on Dark Angel; It reminded me of a story I read as a teenager where teens were trapped in a House of Stairs and they had to dance for their food (weird I know). I do like that Eliza is cast as the main character. I always liked her. I'm looking forward to his new show. Was hoping for more Firefly, but I'll take what he gives us.;)

Malyla,

Thanks so much for posting the link in another thread, and following it up here !

We got on the Whedon bandwagon late, and I hadn't heard about Dr Horrible until I saw your post...

I watched the 3 acts several times, and each one, I saw (or heard) something that I didn't catch before, and made me laugh out loud ! The wedgie Capt Hammer gave Dr Horrible is an example...

I admit, Act III didn't leave me laughing, though....but that's Joss...

Im not sure if that applies to Dr. Horrible, I just thought it was worth repeating my favorite scene from Once More with Feeling. :) God I loved that show. Hopefully Joss's next projects will be just as good...

I thought you were refering to their meeting at the laundry:toung:

I felt the same way about Firefly. FOX did not do right by that show, but at least we got a movie:D
