End of the "High Three"

The Republican controlled Congress at the time balanced the budget.

Which is why, I presume, that when the republicans controlled the House, the Senate, AND the White House, we suddenly had so much debt paid down that our national debt disappeared, right?

I agree with Nnuut; progressivism is a an incurable disease.
Careful there Viva. It's not only an incurable disease, it's contagious. Don't get to close to me, or you could end up with Progressive Pigmatosa. That's when your day brightens up, and you begin to see things in a rainbow of pretty colors, instead of just in black and white. Don't let your posts get too close to mine, your you might catch it.

You forget that we were attacked on 09/11 and went into an undeclared war against terrorism. That costs a lot of money. Have Republicans spent on unnecessary things? Yes. Does that mean the progressives have a green light to spend quadruple that amount now that they are in power? No.

I'm immune from progressive pigmatosa. If I remember correctly I was immunized at the MEP Station when I entered the Army out of high school. Nothing like a dose of reality to shake you out of your fantasy world of idealism!:D

Look...9/11 is a poor excuse to run up trillions of debt dollars. Afganistan could have been a short, concise campaign. The Iraq Fiasco...namely the dumbest military move since Custers Last Stand (or maybe Vietnam) is what has largely bankrupted us. Along with financial deregulation. 9/11 isn't an excuse, it's a reason. There is a difference. Had we not been attacked on that fateful day, we would not have gone into Afghanistan. Reasonable people will disagree on the Iraq point. Personally I think taking out that rat bastard in Iraq was a good thing. I wish Bush 41 had let us take him out when I was there in 1991.

Duhbya didn't get the memo in 2001 and 2003. Supply side tax cuts to the wealthy no longer work to "trickle down" on the economy in the post NAFTA world. It just allows CEO's to build new factories in 3rd World lcountries. All at the expense of an increasing deficit and fewer jobs at home. I'm going to shock you with this statement. I never liked NAFTA and lobbied against it when it was being discussed. I'm not the smartest guy in the world, and I'm not psychic, but even I could see the future with this agreement in place.

OK...I'm gonna take a break VLM...cause I'm trying to be nicer...and I know you're still smarting from that "behind the woodshed" butt-whuppin that Obama and Pelosi gave you over the weekend.:cheesy: Gave me? What are you talking about? I thought my healthcare wasn't suppose to change? Don't tell me the "Messiah" lied to the people...again.

Peace....brother.
I'm resisting the urge to give you a Dick Cheney response. If you weren't such a fracking icehole in your responses, I'd more than likely say peace brother back to you. I'm not getting the brotherhood vibe right now.
