eccougar's Account Talk

I moved out of F Fund and adding another 5% to the C Fund.
80 -G
20 -C
Contributions 100% to C Fund.

I moved back to 90-G, 10-C at COB yesterday, after big gains because of rate cut.
Always keep a little in the markets since I DCA in C Fund every two weeks. I am probably out of moves for this month and will sit in G Fund.

Still holding 70% G 30% S and DCA into the S Fund every two weeks.
Last buy was almost 25 shares @ $12.33. Best of luck everyone.

eCougar,

Can you explain to me about how you DCA back into funds? I am getting some returns on my accounts and am trying to understand DCA as I get more involved in "running" my TSP.

Thanks!

DCA is simply putting a set amount of money each month into an investment such as a stock, index fund or mutual fund.
At my age, I usually keep at least 70% in the G-Fund and whichever stock fund I am holding at the time, I will buy into that fund every two week from payday contributions.
I am currently buying the C-Fund every two weeks, occasionally making an IFT depending on the markets.
Happy, there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this board and keep reading theirs posts and you can pick up some valuable information. Good luck with your investing.

eCougar, thanks. Yes, I am SO happy (lol) to have found this board. I have already learned SO much and am thankful for all of the wonderful information. It's great! Thanks, again.

HGL, good site for identifying acronyms and ideas about investing:

We now return to eccougars account talk, already in progress!

In the past, I normally would set my portfolio near the (110-age) rule and just let it ride and occasionally would buy more equities on dips in the markets.
In normals markets, this would mean a 60-40 split, between equities and bonds or stable value. A couple times a year, I would rebalanced my overall portfolio to maintain that balance.
In today markets, I am holding almost 80% stable value(G-Fund and Income Fund) and only 20% equities, for these are not normal markets.
Considering our ages, I am more conservative with my wife's TSP account, but with my 401k, I keep a sizable amount in equities.
Present TSP: 95% G, 5% C and buying C every 2 weeks, but will add on dips.
Good luck in the markets.:)

XIRR
A nice way of seeing rate of returns for your spreadsheet. I've used this method for years and works great.

Another nice addition to a spreadsheet, if you have several stocks or mutual funds is an add on for excel:
MSNSTOCKQUOTE.

I went 60-G, 30-F and 10-C. Hoping the G and F will soften the blow on down
days, while picking up more C-Fund share under $9.50. Still adding to C-Fund every two weeks.

Moved back to 90% G and 10% C, while still buying C shares every two weeks.
A couple of times I have used Squalebear's 1% move to increase shares in the C Fund. Using Quicken program, my C Fund average share price is $9.64.
My total portfolio is still about 75% stable value and 25% equities.
I'm thinking we may get a boost from the State of the Union speech tonight.

Added some to the C-Fund today and still buying every two weeks.
Current allocation is 80 G 20 C.
