EBIS Retirement tab = VERA?? - Early Retirement

So I'm looking at my EBIS and I noticed there is an 'Early Voluntary Retirement Benefits' section.

It says my annuity start date is 1/12/2026 when I'll be 48 years old. With my annuity being $1,597.00.

So is 1/12/2026 the first date when I'll be eligible to accept a Voluntary Early Retirement Authority (VERA)? If I do accept it, will I get the annuity immediately after retiring or do I still have to wait until my minimum retirement age? (57 years old)

Be careful, skooby. VERA eligibility under age 50-you have to have at least 25 years service under your belt. how many years would you have in by that date? If you'll have 25 years in by age 48, then yes you could go out under VERA-IF they offer early outs. those events don't come around very often. twice I've seen it in my 29year career so far.

VERA means yes, you go out with immediate annuity. them's the rules. If you go out under postponed or deferred to take annuity later, then you aren't taking VERA, you are going out under very different rules.https://www.opm.gov/retirement-services/fers-information/eligibility

VERA - An agency will offer VERA when they are using every option to avoid a RIF. When offered, you will not be singled out for such an offer. Who ever wants to apply can and the agency will determine who gets to go. I tried twice for VERA and never got it. Waited till MRA to leave.
