Dow reclaims 29,000 level with 1.6% surge Wednesday to creep within 500 points of all-time closing high
The Dow Jones Industrial Average Wednesday afternoon was trading sharply higher, putting the blue-chip index near its Feb. 12 closing record at its peak for the session--representing a sizable recovery from the world's most recognized stock-market index which had been leveled, with the rest of the market, at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. The Dow was trading 1.6% higher on Wednesday at 29,081 near its intraday peak, which is about 450 points, or 1.5%, from its February closing high at around 29,551.42. A close above its Feb. 12th level would help the Dow join the S&P 500 index and the Nasdaq Composite Index in record territory from their late-March lows.
