I don't like Orman, but I think Ramsey offers sound financial advice to the average American. Stop spending more than you make, build up an emergency fund to pay for for those unexpected expenses so you don't have to reach for a credit card, pay off your debt, save for the future. If you need more income, get a second job don't fall for a get rich quick scheme.

It's stuff our grandparents did. It worked then, it works now.
