Don’t count on the Fed’s many emergency measures to rescue the stock market from coronavirus
Do the Federal Reserve’s stimulus programs guarantee that the March 23 lows in the stock market won’t be broken? Many of you felt that the historical precedents to which I referred are irrelevant to today’s markets, since the Fed has so aggressively responded to the economic contraction. At least anecdotally, recent experience strongly supports the notion that the stock market responds to Fed stimulus.
