Not sure if this should be here or in the lounge.

On July 4th the guy who made the decision to hire me retires with 37 years. He is 1.5 years younger than me. By my calculations that means about $70k per for the rest of his life. Am I jealous? Yeah, I am

Of course the HR person who in processed me said if I was smart TSP would make me a millionaire by age 60. Guess I'm not too smart.

Ok, ok, Buster. Rub it in some more. Not that much youngern you but 1/3 career yet to go. (sullk sulk). :( On the other hand, got so much more time to sock away all the juicy low-price stocks available these days. Hmm, bright side anyone?

Adding 1½ years (overestimating) to 37 means that you are almost 39 years old when he retires..so he started working at age "ZERO".

If he started at age 20, he'd be 57, and you'd be almost 59 ?

And, if true, you'll be a millionaire by what age ???

The lady at HR when i was hired exclaimed "hey your my first FERS process, if you would have processed yesterday you could have chosen CSRS"........oh well

That's 37 years federal service. He started at 18, took 4 years off for some "fun, travel and adventure" then came back. Worked his way up, educated himself and became an electronic equipment mechanic, eventually being in charge of the shop.

Based on my calculations of his high three and 37 years federal service. $70k per.

Not based on our age difference. Bad composition. So what are you, an English teacher?:D

I have three years to get smart and become a millionaire. Hope I make it.:worried:

Guess who's back as a contractor, six weeks to the day after he retired?

Guess what he's doing? Right, the same job he left. Good thing I didn't reissue his phone extension:cheesy:
