Close call - Senate votes down amendment

Gosh, I didn't realize that some Federal workers get paid to travel back and forth to work, must be nice?

Senate Votes Down Pay Freeze Extension: The Senate on Tuesday rejected an amendment to the transportation bill (S.1813) that would have frozen federal pay for the third year. The amendment, proposed by Sen. Pat Roberts (R) of Kansas, failed by a 41-57 vote. The $109 billion transportation bill, which funds roads, bridges, and transportation projects, passed the Senate on Wednesday and will now head to the House. The bill also has a provision that would increase federal employees’ mass transit subsidy to $240 a month, up from $125. The maximum subsidy had been $230 since 2009 but it went back to $125 when an extension wasn’t passed by the end of last year.

They tried to tack on a third year pay freeze, and the vote was close- but did not pass the Senate.

Look for them to try and tack it back on in the House.

And the hits just keep on coming.

The amendment was about more than just the pay freeze, but the freeze was one of the provisions. Some voted for or against for other reasons, but here is the whole thing, if you want to go take a look:

The vote- for those interested in keeping track of who is voting to freeze pay, and who is voting no:
