Citizens occupy Wall Street

If the corporations aren't hiring, maybe we need to move towards a barter society, exchange physical currency.

James is willing to launder and cook for dividend stocks.

I'll tell stories for food.

Post your goods or services here.

I'm serious about the barter thing. We're a pretty talented bunch around here, what have you got, what makes you unique?

But I have to admit a part of me just wanted to see if I could say "Post your goods" on this massage board without being accused of leading impromtu art tours of a volvo factory.

Wow,

Marching through Wall Street on a Saturday. Public education ain’t what it used to be.

By the way, I think I know many of these folks…
The dude on the left was a former ‘investment advisor’ who in 2005 tried to get me to open up a huge HEL (Home Equity Loan), invest it in an indexed annuity, and pay down the mortgage with ‘free money’!!! What a deal.

The chick on the right was a real estate grinder who knocked on my door in 2007 with an offer I could not refuse. I could use the equity on my condo to pay the down payment on a new house with a HEL. Then I could flip either the house or the condo in two weeks and buy a couple of new development tract homes in Las Vegas!!! What could possibly go wrong?

The androgynous one in the middle is someone I knew who went to New York City College for a degree in ‘The Philosophy of Ethnic Studies’. It got a job as a waiter for a swanky Wall Street restaurant – but got laid off after 2008. There ain’t as much $1K bottles of Champaign flowing since the crash – even the boozers mocking the androgynous waiters, investment advisors, real estate grinders, loan brokers, stock brokers, and the myriad of soft core college graduates are drinking the cheap stuff. I mean, what real Wall Streeter is sleeping in his/her office hole on the weekend?

I’ll give these Blue Stater Wall Street Protesters a bit of advice. Move to a red state. Your state is broke.:p

??? What state do you mean? Montana, North Dakota or Arkansas? While these are the only states without a budget shortfall, the're are plenty of red states in the red.

I hesitate to advertise for a seamstress because there might be some qualified seamsters out there too, but can any of you sew, or know someone that does?

I have eleven windows that I would like a set of new curtains for, hemmed on all sides, 4" clear loop/fold at top, with 1" strips tacked halfway on the vertical to the outside edges for tie backs. Made out of 8 oz. canvas.

I can have two 9' x 12' drop cloths shipped to any Do-It-Best hardware store for $2.17 per square yard, unless you got a better deal on material.

I'll pay shipping for finished product to my location and a reasonable fee or trade for labor. Anyone?

Taking bids, PM or email with offer.

More video of the police attacking peaceful protestors exercising their first amendment rights.

You know if I remember correctly, when I went to work for the US government I swore am OATH that I was not a member of and didn't promote or assist any organization that was/is organized to overthrow the Government of the USA and to defend the Constitution.
Do any of you posters remember that?
Oath

I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
5 U.S.C. §3331

As Federal civil servants, we take an oath of office by which we swear to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. The Constitution not only establishes our system of government, it actually defines the work role for Federal employees - "to establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty."
The history of the Oath for Federal employees can be traced to the Constitution, where Article II includes the specific oath the President takes - to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." Article VI requires an oath by all other government officials from all three branches, the military, and the States. It simply states that they "shall be bound by oath or affirmation to support the Constitution." The very first law passed by the very first Congress implemented Article VI by setting out this simple oath in law: "I do solemnly swear or affirm (as the case may be) that I will support the Constitution of the United States."
The wording we use today as Executive Branch employees is now set out in chapter 33 of title 5, United States Code. The wording dates to the Civil War and what was called the Ironclad Test Oath. Starting in 1862, Congress required a two-part oath. The first part, referred to as a "background check," affirmed that you were not supporting and had not supported the Confederacy. The second part addressed future performance, that is, what you would swear to do in the future. It established a clear, publicly sworn accountability. In 1873, Congress dropped the first part of the Ironclad Test Oath, and in 1884 adopted the wording we use today.

Yeah, I do support the Constitution with all my heart. It just seems that the Oath has been changed to:
Oath

I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Corporations of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Didn't Mitt just make that assertion recently? It seems IMO that corporations are getting all the bennies without the cost. Doesn't it?

And the right to peacefully assemble hasn't been revoked yet.

The question become, Nnuut - who is the enemy that these protestors are defending against?

I think Aireman is exactly on target.

Which side will you be on?

I would say these protestors are doing a great deal
towards defending the Constitution.

Which is the right side morally?

I don't hear the Anti-Wall_Streeters talking about overthrowing the U.S. Government.

That would be more along the lines of the tea party.

No, the anti-Wall-Streeters are just talking about overthrowing the system that is stealing all the money
and giving to the rich people.

You have listed the reasons why I don't take you seriously anymore...

My money is with the drunk Wall Streeters - so I guess I've got to root for them...

By the way, I think I've seen these same spontaneous demonstrators at all of the G8 conferences. Very professional...

Thank you James. I was beginning to think I wasn't getting my point across. There have been so many posts here about market manipulation that I'm surprised that there isn't more support for some Wall Street shake up!

I do kinda wonder why when I think I might have made a salient point or do a "IMO" I get called a Socialist or they wrap themselves in the American flag as if that settles situation?

Think I'm gonna do a tag line: "Defender of the Republic". Would they get that?

What's really going on...

Interview with writer Chris Hedges, in New York City.
He talks about the corporate elite and what they want
to impose on the rest of us.

Note: After the Wall Street protests are done- October 6 in DC is next.

I doubt any of these protestors do point and figure charts for their large retirement accounts... so which side are you on? ;)
