Chulke's Account Talk

Well...I don't follow the TSPTalk sentiment survey if that's what you're referring to...It's my own proprietary blend!

And you're right it's not a bear market...I'm following a set of bear market RULES...based on what I see in the charts...not what everyone else sees...My bear market rules are based on short-intermediate term volatility readings...I make TSP IFT's based on how volatile the market becomes based on geo-political events and a few other factors...

We don't all have to BUY into the systems that are used here on TSPTalk...we, as individuals, can have our own investment strategies and ways of determining our allocations...TSPTalk systems are not the only way!

I'm not knocking thoses systems, they are very good, and I give them a lot of respect. Their past performances are impeccable!

I'm just not paying for them, especially when someone uses data we the website readers provide to determine a way to invest and doesn't provide the sum and total of all that FREE info we the readers provide back to us! That's all Im going say on the subject...

Cheers!:)

Cheers!

Still sitting comfortably in the C fund...just watching at the moment!

I still believe the C fund will outperform the S fund for the remainder of the year...

Only time will tell...

Cheers to all!

So I made an IFT request on the 4th and moved everything back to the G fund for the moment...I didn't like what I was seeing develop...

Yesterdays little uptick made me regret it a little bit but today's action is making me thankful and confirmed the decision for me!

Cheers!

best of luck to you, but i'm still in and looking for some more gains. as long as the highs outweigh the lows i'm a happy camper. i'm looking at the long term outcome.

I don't disagree with that sentiment one bit, Guchi! My experience is the same in that a long term strategy usually pays off in the long haul...

But in my account I'm trying to play catch-up, bring in solid gains, and reduce the amount of down days I would be exposed to that can really drag down the bottom-line.

Having a Military TSP that doesn't get matched is hard to make grow...you know?

Cheers!

Well...can someone please tell me what's going on...I was out of the country on a TDY...moved my money to the G for safe keeping while I was gone cause I knew I wouldn't be able to check on things...I come back and now all hell has broken loose...My first day back in the S fund and the futures are down...WTH! LoL! At least I'm back safe and sound and can start things moving again!!!

Cheers!

On another note, we changed Fed Chairpersons (Ben Bernanke -> Janet Yellen) and I understand those are typically volatile times. The market is still getting use to Janet.

Good Morning Y'all! I'm back from the abyss! I know I haven't posted anything in the last 13 months but I have been extremely busy!

So...I just retired from the Air Force in August and everything leading up to that day was chaos! Out processing, looking for a new job, etc, etc....

I took a job at a local company, as a production manager, and I thought the company was going somewhere...boy was I wrong! I lasted 4 months and was sent packing...but its all good! I took a job at Lowes for a short time just to fill the void until something better turned up...it only took 3 weeks...I am NOW in training with AT&T to be a U-Verse Premises Technician. It's pretty exciting if I do say so myself! Hard work but exciting!

I am still waiting for the VA to complete my Disability claim...OMG...I could be waiting for a long time with all the scandals plaguing them...but at least I know it's in the works!

Lastly...I still have my Uniformed Services TSP and I'm still making money in it...Currently allocated at 20% per fund but looking to adjust! Some days are better than other but, I'm still alive, still married, still have a beautiful daughter, that by the way just got accepted to Joffrey Ballet! and still looking forward to a full and enjoyable retirement that I hope my TSP will help me with!

Cheers to all:D!

Welcome back and Congratulations on your retirement from the AF!!! Sound like you are doing well. I've been retired 5 years and my TSP is still making money but when I turn 701/2 years old I'll be forced to take Mandatory Distributions! Gotta do what you gotta do.
Best of luck,
Norman

Congrats on all...and congrats to your daughter! A friend of my daughter was just accepted to a troop in Chicago for one of their intensive 2month programs. Is that what your daughter is doing, or is she an actual trainee? If a trainee...WOW!!!

She got accepted to go to New York to be a Trainee as well as several other programs...but momma is saying "No! she's too young". Momma says she can do the summer intensive this year and if she likes it then next year she can go to New York.

I tried to talk her into letting her go to New York with an adult chaperone but I didn't get too far! Lol...I guess I understand...My daughter is only 14 so she is awful young...but the chance to go to Joffrey is an amazing opportunity so hopefully she will love it and she will get to go next year.

My daughter tried out for the Chicago ballet like 2 or 3 years ago but she didn't get accepted...but she was super young then...but being accepted to Joffrey is just amazing and her mother and I couldn't be more proud or happy for her!

Well, from another father of a ballet crazy daughter, congrats to her. Joffrey is the Citadel of the Ballet world in the US...from High School on up. Again, congrats to her!
