China says it’s reached a consensus in principle with the US during this week’s trade talks

KEY POINTS

Chinese Ministry of Commerce said Vice Premier Liu He had a phone call with U.S. trade representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Friday.

China said the two sides conducted “serious and constructive” discussions on “core” trade points and discussed arrangements on the next consultation.

The White House said the trade representatives “made progress in a variety of areas and are in the process of resolving outstanding issues.”

unfortunately...

Larry Kudlow, Trump’s top economic advisor, told Fox Business Network on Friday that the two countries haven’t completed negotiations on intellectual property theft and forced technology transfer, adding financial services and currency chapters of the trade deal are “virtually wrapped up.”

Without coming to an agreement over intellectual property theft, and forced technology transfer, what good is having ANY agreement?

This is still looking pretty fuzzy to me. I HOPE they can come up with some kind of deal, but I am not going to hold my breath.
