CDC issues nationwide eviction moratorium through end of the year, White House says

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is using its authority to implement a temporary eviction moratorium through the end of the year, the Trump administration said Tuesday evening. Unlike the federal moratorium included in the CARES Act that expired in late July, the CDC's moratorium will apply to all rental units nationwide, senior administration officials said. Renters will be eligible for the moratorium's protection if they received a stimulus check, and they must be able to prove that they made an effort to receive government assistance and that they could not afford rent.

Welp, all good things must come to an end, and the Supreme Court lifted that eviction ban yesterday. Money was given to people to pay for rent but they didn't have to if they didn't want to. That money was spent instead on other things, most likely consumer discretionary items.

Unfortunately in NY and CA, the moratorium lives on.
