CapeChem Account Talk

How often are you <1%ing

I used my first regular IFT and moved about half of my account in on Friday Jan. 9. The market started down and I got scared so I used my second regular IFT and backed out on Jan 12 but I left 1% in each of F, C, S and I.

These were my <1% moves for the rest of January.

I should have gone to G here...but NOOO. I got greedy and bumped C and S up to 5%.

You have to let your account ride till you have +.01% so you can raise it to the next percentage but <1% did help me recover some of my losses from earlier in the month. :) I have only used it when the markets are moving up and I'm out of IFT's. I haven't found any reason to buy more shares and keep the percentages the same while the markets are headed down. YMMV.

Kevin, DCAing on the way down with <1% IFTS lowers your overall break even point on a rebound but you will be betting the market will rebound before the end of the month for it to be useful. Depending on how fast the market is dropping it can be effective as long as you aren't in more than 10%. I have a little spread sheet I used to calculate what your DCA share price is if you want to use it to back test some data. JB45

Thanks guys...I appreciate the info (Dr.Evil voice).....I think i just revised my new years resolution to try and remove my emotion from this trading stuff.....and I have found that the more knowledge that i have the less emotion comes into play....thanks again.

I guess you could keep buying shares in a declining market till the end of the month and stop when you get your 2 regular IFT's back...then let it ride into the new month.

Cool. Check your PM's. :)

Question....Why does yahoo financial charts only have up to 5 day of data on the wilshire 4500 (Sfund) at a time?

It's been that way since I can remember. Same type of problem with Stockchart's $EMW, only it doesn't store the volume.

I am 100G and I am not as jumpy and cranky as 12:00 approaches.....I must not let myself get to comfortable with my 0.02% gains every day. This is so fun

I sleep better at night knowing I'm sitting in G with 2 IFTs and I've done my homework. :)

I think this is the first time in the last six months that i feel iam in the right fund with IFT's and ready to make an intelligent move.....that is thanks to all you guys on the MB.

I am reaching the first test of my new resolve to remove emotion.......My emotions are telling me to jump into stock but my numbers are screaming " steady big fella".

i get the same way, if you are in you keep thinking i need to be out, and when your out i think i should be in:confused::confused::confused:

If you're drinking tonight, drink one for me will ya?

Do yourself a favor and DON'T look at the tracker :p

Ok....5 dma and 10 dma are crossing the 20 dma under the 50 dma today which is a buy signal for me.....therefore going 60G 15C 15S 10I......Hope today closes low and then heads north for a bit.

Glad you got a relatively flat day to jump in. Hope you get some decent upside so you can tell me how the view is up there on the tracker. :cheesy:
