CapeChem Account Talk

I am interested to know how many of you out there have regained all of your losses from oct08....I guess I would define regained as your account balance is atleast back to what it was in sept08.

My Account Balance never went Negative CapeChem. :)

Mine didn't go negative, I had a very small gain (I made more than G). But I also had very little profit last year (I made more than G ). So the gains I had in 2008 were only half the story...

That's a no for me, but I also took out a loan. Regardless I still wouldn't have the same balance.

CapeChem,
I was lucky and unlucky in 2008. My high point for my TSP account was 9/19/08 and I have not gotten back to that point yet. My low point for 2008 was on 10/27 when my account was down 30.6%. I have recovered from that low point by 23.82% (that does not include my biweekly deposits).

I aprreciate the response guys....looking forward to some more responses...I think it would be nice to get 50 responses to get a real feel for the poll.
By the way i voted no...

well this is interesting.....All I heard for months after lossing all that money that it would take years to recoup...I thought we would see more people trying to regain their losses....hmm

Most buy and holders will tell you to be right and sit tight. DCA has always been the redeeming feature if there were no panic decisions. Buy'em low and never sell'em.

I'm already working on my strategy by sacrificing some potential profit gains by gently shifting while I await the tornado that surely will arrive without warning. After tomorrow I'm an official swing trader - heading for a new life for the next twenty years. The potential of the next five years is tremendous - we'll all make serious money.

I want to make sure I answer the question correctly. You want to know if my balance is higher today than it was on 30 Sep 08. You don't want me to subtract contributions since then, mine, matching and automatic.

Thanks for those who participated in the poll.

72% of those who responded have either recovered there loses or had no losses to recover from the october08. Amazingly thats about direct opposite of what i thought it would be.

Generalizations: (not all inclusive just thought polooped down)

-those who recovered are proud of that and are more likely to respond to a poll
-Those who havent recovered are less likely to respond to a poll
-Those who have recovered obviously missed the march09 drop. ( i caught both)
-Those who recovered made wise choices and stuck with a trading strategy.

thoughts?

Congratulations and well done to all that have fully recoverd and are on their way again....

I tell you guys, you are going to hear one big YIPPIE!!!! when i am able to succesfully go to 100G and then the market losses 5% and Then i am able to go CS and ride it back up.........obviously since i am telling you this i haven't done that.....still sitting at 10G45C45S and gonna time one of these dips right someday.

You know when the S&P is riding a +2.5% all day...all of the sudden you drop 2% after 3:00........why can't we ride -2.5% all day and at 3:00 we gain 2%......the market is not fair and equitable
