I made a rookie mistake back in June an put everything in the G fund. Since then everything has skyrocketed. What should I do wait it out or buy back in high?

Welcom Bsnellen,

Ask yourself what's your goal and what is your risk?

A Lot of people seem to be on the Sentiment Survey right now so the next time it falls to "G" wait until it goes back to "S".

But you need to make some decisions....

But if you want in, get in.....If you are looking to be in for a while, a day or two is machts nicht!

Good Luck!

The market might look high today but it will be even higher tomorrow - so close your eyes and hold your nose and jump into the arena. It's the only way you'll make gains. And rule number one is to remember it's about sitting with discomfort and being at peace with it. The market rewards what is hard to do.

It is not what you buy @, it is what you sell @....A day or two this year will not make or break you twenty years from now.....

So if it goes higher are you going to stop your contributions because it was lower before?

Follow the leaders until you feel cocky and venture out on your own, then when you are leaking like an old water bucket follow the leaders some more.:D

I havent stop buying i still buy cs and i every two weeks, but the transfer i did back in june i put in g. I am just waiting on right time to buy back into cs and i.

In all seriousness tomorrow or thursday could provide the opportunity you seek. SOTU tonite and Fed meeting this week. Of course that can just as easily be a catalyst for higher markets.

Fortunately you have the 2-year cycle, 4-year cycle, and the 6-year cycle on your side. With these three cycles in the up phase heading into 2011, the stock market should have enough of an impulse to keep the recovery alive and make headway through most of 2011 before the 6-year cycle peaks in September 2012. The Feds obsession with loose monetary policy creates asset bubbles - be sure to get your share.

So you bailed in June and ask us what to do now? That's what I'd call a loaded question because there is no right answer. What you didn't say is why you waited so long to fess up? If you are a "move once a year" sort of person I'd maybe wait for a pull back to the 50SMA.

I really like this kind of thinking. There are millions of moms and pops out there who got trounced on the last big stocks downturn; but most are thinking now, that maybe they should stay in the game because they notice that the prices of every day goods are rising faster than their COLA. This is my reasoning for being aggressive with my TSP assets.

BSN. Doesn't have to be all or nothing. Although having only 2 IFTs a month doesn't help you can look for dips and go in 10 - 20% at a time over a period of time. Sort of what you're doing with your bi-weekly contributions. You have the advantage of time so don't sweat the short-term decisions too much. Guten Tag!
