Bquat's Account Talk

The ability is in law, but the DOD doesn't feel it necessary. Back in the 2005 NDAA, the Army did a pilot program where they used matching funds as a recruiting tool. It didn't stick after the report was given to Congress, so here we are...

However, realize that there is a lot of talk about revamping the military retirement system because it is too lucrative... you know, save money...

So, in the future, you could see the military getting matching funds... but no pension like it exists now... I hope to retire before then.

With there already being several retirement options depending upon when you enlisted I am fairly confident they cannot take our pension away from us since it is based on the retirement plan of when we first joined. They could only screw over new recruits.

We can only hope...

that's what civil service thought too. then they went from hi 3 to hi 5. and 1% to 5% employee contribution. and they're working on raising the minimum retirement age. and thinning the ranks. you might not want to get too attached to that sacred cow.

Maybe I should print this page out with the Defense Secretary promising to not screw over current serving members of the military. Defense.gov News Article: Panetta: Any Retirement Changes Won

By the way Bquat, I'm sorry for us having this big conversation on your thread. I hope you don't mind my friend. :)

don't waste the paper printing it, we need to get more administratibely efficient you know. just memorize the last line. something about 'opportunity to effectively shape the future.' that's politician speak for: change is coming.

Well I have bulging discs in my upper back that physical therapy does nothing for, but I just eat the pain and get through it anyways. I bet if I pushed the issue I could get a medical retirement or something, but I like the Air Force too much and I'm only 27 years old so it's too early to retire lol. I'm sure I will get disability when I retire for my back and some other issues, but I plan on staying for my full 20.

I will definitely give this a shot. Thank you for posting this!

Boy I got so reading to do thanks guys. Well I'm the contrary indicator again.:( Nothing is broken yet. Just a lot of people with stops will have to repurchase if they hade them too tight. Less than 1% movement and dip being bought so far. I am on the losing side of this trade but holding.

Market got you guessing? We're still consolidating sideways and nobody is winning this battle. Today's dip has stopped out several traders today and there is a concern of the end of day dip. So I took the chance of showing the buy and sale points. The speed in which we break them or just drift to them is the key. So watch for a confirmed move and remember the majority of the rising moving averages are below us. I still would be more confortable if we regained my 5 day. We are still in a bullish pull back in a rising channel.
We are looking weaker but still can rise.

As always please post concerns for others because when I'm in I have a bullish bias. Keep an eye out for the arrows.

I'm somewhat a happy camper so far.:) Recaptured the 5 day, tested it and got above my entry point. Not too much of a bullish move yet but a slow move may be a sustained move. So not to say much more:

:(Maybe I shouldn't say anything. This market hates me. I know it does.:D There I apeased the market gods. Nothing is broken just weak.

Senior bowling is the place to be. Arn't you glad your in this high base with me. If you disagree let others see. Have a nice day as I go off to play.

What happened? Bad news when i say up again.:mad:Just got above and now 1% down in this trade. Would like to say something about dip buying but I won't.

Cant fight the news. The news cycle has killed me on my last three calls for moves. Can't beat this stuff. "The dollar turns higher Tuesday, with the reversal in course coming after a U.S. central banker criticizes the Federal Reserve’s latest stimulus effort." Can't the Fed and bank people talk to each other or do they keep trying to out stage each other?
