bmneveu's Account Talk

Almost IFT'd to G this morning to retreat with today's gains but thought twice. I know it's a pretty rough time to be in, but I think with so many earnings coming this week, we should see more gains in the next few days. I'll probably look to retreat on Thursday or Friday.

Looks like we got quite a bit closer to a decision on the debt situation today. This could mean good things for the market in the days ahead if they can pull the trigger on something/anything..

After getting such a nice boost yesterday and seeing today's futures at about half a percent up, I'm very tempted to run away with these earnings. I'm gonna play it down to the wire today though. I want to see what the progress looks like on the debt deal. If things are looking good, it might be worth hanging in there just to be in when a deal is signed.

IFT'd 100% G fund today and took some nice gains with me. I've been in the market for far too long. Time to take a breather, sidestep some dips, and look for a new entry point.

Might look to get my hands dirty soon. Debt deal may get inked this weekend. After that blows over the market can focus back on earnings season. Also bought more CSTR this morning at a discount. The stock dipped over 6% last night on news of their CEO resigning but I see the company posting strong earnings for awhile.

Looking at my daily returns on the Autotracker, my account had a 7% upswing from June 24th - July 7th.. Wish I snagged that without the before and after beatings! My goal for the 2nd half of the year is to decrease my risk and choose my entry and exit points carefully. That said, I do think there will be plenty of gains to be had in these 3rd and 4th quarters of 2011. May everyone prosper!

Looks like the S fund is down about 2% on the day just before noon, coming close to about 4% in 3 days if I'm not mistaken.. Very tempting to jump in for COB today but I'm going to stay disciplined and wait for good news. That may come tonight, and I may be in COB tomorrow :)

I couldn't agree with you more. :)

Let's hope for something positive tonight! These TSP'ers that are stuck in the market with no IFTs left have taken enough of a beating.. At first I was cheering for a selloff so I could come back in on a dip. Now I just feel bad for those that are still in -- this is brutal!

Looking at possibly pulling the trigger by noon if the S fund is down more than 1%.. And if I can squeeze my lunch break in before noon :P

It would be great if you can pull the trigger bmneveu, but I really can't afford another 1% loss in the S fund. I've lost 5% since Monday. I would really like to see a bounce today to finish the month off on a positive note.

Looks like you may get what you asked for :). I'm not gonna jump in, the water's too cold! I'd rather 'invest' after seeing a debt deal has been reached than 'gamble' on getting in the day before. I may miss a day of gains but it's the safe way.

Exactly! This is like playing earnings. As a general rule for a day trader, you don't hold through an earnings announcement, because it can go against you. It is not risk/reward as much as gambling if you go in anyway.

All of my BIDU, KO, and SLB earnings sold off over the course of a few days after each reported a great 2Q :(

Dow futures currently up well over 1% at 7:30pm.. Debating whether I should jump in COB tomorrow. Will the rally last more than a day, assuming a debt deal is passed before the deadline? It better! We lost nearly 5% last week in the S fund. I wanna see all of that back, and then some! :)

IFT'd 100% S fund COB today. The bad manufacturing report looks to be providing a nice dip to jump in on. Jobs report comes out on Friday, which will probably be bad. I'm looking to get in and out before then, hopefully with some nice gains!

Looks like I entered one day too early, to the tune of a 3% chop. Ughhh, that's sickening! Well, I refuse to exit in the red so I'm back in for the ride. We've created quite a hole -- the ceiling is high now :)

Wow did I jump the gun with that post or what.. Who knows where the bottom is now? Gotta stay bullish though. I refuse to pull out now and absorb a 10% hit. I'll let the money I have in now ride it out, while buying more shares at lower prices. Also transferred some funds to my portfolio to buy more, but I have to wait 3 days for the xfer to complete. I kinda like that though at this point.
