biscuits and gravy

hey now...

at least you didn't say sheep.

that reminds me of an old eastern montana joke...

the rancher's wife gets worried when her husband doesn't come in for dinner so she treks out to the lambing barn to check on him and when she opens the door there he is just putting it to one of the flock. 'ralph what are ewe doing!' she hollers. caught red handed, he just grins at her sheepishly and says 'mutton honey'.

My wife makes the best biscuits and sausage gravy I've ever had. Everything from scratch. Cook up a platter of spicy country sausage and leave everything in the pan. Then the gravy is made in the same pan with the sausage drippings...buttermilk...heavy cream.....mmmmmmmm

And I'm not giving you her address because she's HOT!

Hide your daughters too!

Let me know when you're closer to retirement. My address might change by then.

Biscuits and Gravy are so good at my house my Doctor only allows me to eat it once a week. Sunday morning with 2 eggs over easy and fried potatoes. Piled high and if I'm feeling chipper I put Cholula on everything.

FYSA- If youre uneasy around firearms I'll do a to go plate for ya.

One of my favorite low-brow chow sites - Holly Eats.Com - Home Page. The guy sections off the country giving grease stain reviews on places he's chowed in. (Five grease stains is the max) Separate hot dog page. I'm pretty sure there's a few diners in there where he's had biscuits and gravy, especially in the South.

It's been a while, but it's a must read for us if we're heading up the northeast coast.

Krystal has pretty good Sausage and White Gravy Biscuits. I like it!!

huh, spokaloo? i never would've guessed, spent many a late night early morning there but no frankie doodles, it is on my list now. also atlanta. good deal. thanks.

yes to biscuits, sausage, country gravy, black pepper, and eggs. over easy for me. bacon on the side. that is probably what heaven smells like.

Burro,

My nana had the best...believe me, they were, but she's passed on, so I can't give you her address.

The biscuit must be buttermilk.......MUST BE! Flour, shortening (lard), not much to screw up, but golden brown a must.

The Gravy must have sausage....Sausage, Sausage. (Note here, some people think the chicken gravy on chicken fried steak is acceptable.....IT IS NOT)

Gravy can be made with shortening, but nana used the bacon drippings from the can on the stove.

Fresh ground pepper works best, but shake out of can if necessary.

Best I ever had on the road: Frankie Doodles in Spokane, WA
Flying Biscuit in Atlanta, but must go to original spot in Candler.

ok so i am on a food quest. i want to find the best biscuits and gravy on the planet. i have had some really good biscuits and gravy in some of the oddest places, i can't remember any that weren't good actually, but maybe that is because i was hungry.

so when i retire i am taking my rock star party bus on the road in search of the holy grail, among other things. but biscuits and gravy will do for a general road map to start. where do the locals in the know go? where is the best biscuits and gravy your have ever had? because i am going to go there sometime and have them.
