Thanks for sharing the photos StopLight. Such a beautiful country. Did you happen to come across any special sipping liqueurs during the visit?
FS
Thanks, Fog !
I must admit, I'm more of a "beer guy", so I drank a lot of beer....a
LOT of beer !!!

I've captured many pix of the beers I tried, because my buddy and I share stories about the beers we try, and try to one-up each other...

I have him beat, for now...
We DID visit a craft distillery in Tasmania, on one of our cruise's shore excursions, but his rare, expensive whisky was "sold out", so our sampling was mostly of his gins... Now, I'm NOT a gin drinker, but some of his stuff was darn tasty !!! I'll post more about that stop, and the others, when I get down to those photos !!!
On our own time, we also wandered in to a small craft distillery and whisky bar in Hobart, Tasmania...they had a HUGE menu of whiskies, so we kinda created our own "tasting session" ! We concentrated on locals, but I don't remember if we liked any of them or not !!!

We DID make it back to the ship, however...
We did an organized "whisky tasting" on the ship, with our favorite bartender, one night. It was mostly stuff you can buy here in the States, but it was a lot of fun ! The Brits, Aussies and Kiwis DO love their scotch whisky !!!
The Wife also took a 3-session class on the ship's cocktails...she staggered back, from one of them, asking if I'd ever heard of "Jim Beam Red Stag" bourbon...I had not !!! After some research, I guess it's been around a while, but it's more like a liqueur mixer than a sippin' whisky...black cherry flavored, and mighty tasty, mixed with ginger ale ! Our local liquor store carried it in big bottles, with a handle (NEVER a good sign...

), but they were sold out the other day...probably a good thing...
We also hit assorted wineries on the trip...not my thing, but the Wife enjoyed it, and brought back a bottle...
