Deja vu. Didn't we go through this with AT&T already?In a free market when monopolies form up...competition vanishes.
There are still dozens of carriers in the U.S. but we don't want to see them all gobbled up. It's kind of like having a single payer HC system. Like you said, it's not good for competition.
By the way, it's amazing how they (the phone industry) have been able to get us to accept phone bills costing hundreds of dollar a month. Remember when the only phone in your house cost like $15/month? We get a lot more for the money, of course, but where did everybody come up with that extra money?
And while we're at it, why is my gas bill at an all time high when the price of natural gas is about a third of what it was a few years ago?
But I digress.
