my wife an i are seperating we decided not to touch either ones retirement plan. does anyone know the forms that she would have to sign to give up her rights to my retirement. i work for the post office started in 1984 under fers. do i need three seperate forms my 401k,pension from post office,social security

Are you retired or nearing retirement? If nearing retirement, you may need copies of your divorce papers to submit with your retirement paper work. I just retired from the PO, and there were questions about former spouses (mine were before I started with the PO), so I wasn't too concerned with them to remember what they said.

But as was mentioned by tsp talk, definitely calls for an attorney, especially one familiar with federal service.

At least the two of you are agreeable on not messing with each others retirements which will make things easier.

I have three years to go to retirement she wants to buy her own house ,she can pay for it her self. but i need the form number (from opm can't find it i seen it one other time on their website hoping someone else use it)which will state she gives up all rights to my retirement.

According to that, there are a number of forms which may be applicable:

The insurance designation form is Standard Form (SF) 2823. For Civil Service Retirement System retirement The insurance designation form is Standard Form (SF) 2823. For Civil Service Retirement System retirement monies, the form is SF 2808. For Federal Employees Retirement System, this form is SF 3102.

For FERS:
You also may be talking about an SF-3110 form, titled " Former Spouse's Consent to FERS Election"

just got off the phone with postal human resources they told me the only way for her not to receive any of my retirement money is to seperate or divocrce but we don't want to do that.i can sign the form with her company and she can still work say two years and when she retire i am not entitled to her retirement but if i still work say five years i have to trust her to sign the papers when i retire. Just don't make sense, why can't she sign while we are still married. oh well
