350Z's 2007 I Fund Thread

According to 350Z, the cutoff time is 11:36 EDT.

I made note of these indexes at that time:

DJI was -1.10%
S&P500 was -.92%
EFA was -1.65%

Sigh. Figures -- always was confused about that. Well, that explains why my numbers have been different than those some have posted :)

Edit: using the right time, the EAFE's up about .63% from the cutoff time. Not enough for a +fv to completely wipe out today's losses, but it's something.

Huh??? The EAFE is final and not subject to change. No FV (either way) in the works at the moment. 55 minutes to go.

XLF has broken the intraday upper resistance trendline... if it takes out the 5day, SHORT SQUEEZE!

I'm hoping :)

Seems to me like the I-fund is having a fire sale. It lost almost 3% yesterday and 1.5% today. Not to many funds lose this amount in two days.

And I dig myself in deeper.

I'm talking about the ishares EAFE index, not the official MSCI.

My understanding is changes in the ishares EAFE (EFA) is one of the bases for fv calculation, and the Dow is the other (sometimes). Am I completely off?

Sorry if I'm displaying shocking ignorance here, but I'm trying to nail down my understanding of the fv system.

I'm just hoping for a late day push to get a +FV for the I fund. On a sidenote NYX is up almost 10% since monday... guess all this volitiliy is good for the exchanges.

Yeah, that's right. But you wrote that the EFA was up from where it was at 11:36 EDT. It's not. It's down just a bit right now (from -1.65% to -1.81%).

When talking about FV, say "EFA".

When talking about the I fund price, say "MSCI EAFE"

Is anyone else smelling an afternoon sell-off?

I'm not smeling much of anything because of allergies right now, but a -FV range sell-off would be awesome for those of us buying the I today. Heck, I'd settle for just enough to prevent a +FV, as a compromise to those heading to the lily pad for the weekend.

The only thing I can figure is that I'm running into trouble because of the multiple sources of information out there.

I've been using the Yahoo charts, which let you go back to 11:36 EDT. At that time, they had the EFA at 76.27, whereas now it's up to 76.66. Thanks for you patience, guys, but I'm just not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I wrote down my number at 11:36 (like a good boy) but the quote was delayed 20 minutes! D'OH! :embarrest: 76.27 is correct.

See... I am as easily confused as the next guy! :o

real time EFA = 77.10 or up 1.08% since the 76.27 quote :) Man. slightly retreating as I type.

If the next guy is me, I doubt it! Anyway, it's good to know I hadn't completely lost my mind :)

I certainly wouldn't mind a +fv today, and I'm thinking there should be one...

75 cents would be nice!:D

Dust off boys and girls we still have next week.

looks like 76.89 is the close. How much we actually get, only Barclays knows.

Chart technicals will show this as confirmation of the double bottom on the S&P... hopefully, the markets will digest that and we gap up on Monday, around the world and at home. True chartists tell you to ignore the news since that's priced into the candlesticks. But who can ignore suprime/credit/and the Fed. What's not priced in yet is if the SEC finds fuzzy math in Goldman and the other big boys.

GL and great weekend. what a day.
