The guys and traders at CNBC.com are ecstatic about the Econ. data that came out showing that core PPI was unchanged and that the retail sector was holding up. They say it's good for the stockmarkets, and that the dollar should be coming down....

Griffin,
Your move to the S fund cob today, would is consistent with the ebbtracker's position for Monday (the I fund). Meaning, both of you are in the stock funds for Monday. However, something to consider is that if the FV is returned to the I fund today, the S fund could be a good play also. Just food for thought! :)

Hi, I realize this might be the wrong thread for this but I'll like to check your opinion on this. I went 100% from I to G on the 4th at 20.40 a share. Went right back in yesterday morning for today at 20.04 a share. If im reading you guys right a move to the S fund this am for play on Monday would be a good move. Correct??

I wish I could be of more help to you, but in my position I am not qualified to give you a categorical answer. These are high risk moves without guarantees of success. If you have been reading, you will notice that there are divergent opinions and changes. Keep reading and learning is all I can suggest. Good luck!

There are others here better at playing the I fund than me. But if reading correctly the TSP police took out more yesterday than what was reasonable. So if the OSM is up today they would pay out fair value plus the extra that was taken out yesterday ( which is why 12% took on the risk to be in today). But since the OSM are down to flat, does that mean the true value will be about the same as last night or will they add their -FV to a +FV ( if USM continue to rally) to pay out tonight.

pos and neg fv is like a lagg bettween the OSM's and the USM based on the time of closing vs whats going on realtime. Don't quote me on this but that is what I believe....

I stayed in the I fund as well for today but as of 12 noon yesterday imho nobody knew how FV would be applied, if it would be applied or how much so at that point in time whether to stay in was a complete crap shoot. Without basically barclay stealing the money yesterday (.19) it would not have been that bad. It should be interesting to see what they do today.

They'll sit on it another day; give it back on Monday... Maybe Tuesday. JMHO.

If they give it back today the I fund I think will be up hugh with the dow currently up 99, the dollar down, etc. EFA is currently up 1.45%

Are FV's a good thing?

If you went into the I-Fund sometime befoe yesterday and you did not bail out yesterday, the FV action means nothing. What was taking away yesterday will be given back most likely today. FV hurts when you go into the I-Fund and bail during a -FV day. You get a free ride if you go into the I-Fund during an -FV day and get out of during a +FV day.

It does not matter how you slice. All things being equal the result is the same. The problem is when FV is applied and you are on the wrong side of the fence. When we get a favorable FV with say they are doing their job. When we are caught on the wrong side of the fence we call them crooks. It's the nature of the beast.

Good luck to all!

Actually I'm getting back the FV but I still think Barclay's are a bunch of crooks who are completely arbitrary and unreliable. But I swear I'm not whining! ;)
