True, but this can go on a lot longer than we think. We got buy signals everywhere. It's a bear market rally. SPX closing above 745 is very bullish. The PPT was active early and often today.

Step aside for now and let the bulls have their fun. Reality will be ignored for a while.

I got stopped out on FAZ for a moderate loss. No, biggy. My profit from C yesterday helps.

Time for me to go down the basement and practice my golf swing.:D
 
I bought a little chunk of FAZ this afternoon at $45.80 to offset any losses tomorrow in my TSP. I thought I was catching the bottom, but that thing just kept plummeting! Goodness. XLF is way overbought, and it's also running smack-dab into a big trend line that began the end of Sept. So even if this is a serious move up, XLF is due for a decent pullback tomorrow.

When this party is over, it's going to drop fast and furious.

Stocks might gap up tomorrow. Target for XLF might be $9. That's when I'll look to pick up FAZ. FAZ in the low $30s would be sweet.
 
I did sell my hedged FAS this afternoon :D

I didn't put stops on my 2 FAZ positons, but I'll be doing my stockwork tonight and take it from there. Regardless, my ROTH IRA is serving as a good hedge to my TSP. :)

Bottom line, I hope everyone does well (except for Cramer)

Why do you say we had the ultimate bottom in Nov when we've made new lows since then?
 
Rod,

New lows in index price only - there were fewer new lows as compared to November on the NYSE internals which you have to search for. This is a positive divergence and means certain sectors were bucking the general down trend. The intraday low of Dow 6469.95 was the price low and fewer stocks were making new lows. If the DJIA can reach 9015 and the DJTA can reach 3715 that will trigger another Dow Theory buy signal. Kudlow will have smoke coming out his ears tonight. By the way, the intraday low on the DJTA was 2147.87 and the utilities was 289.57. If the institutions and hedge funds jump the gunslinger here we could see another 1,000 point day - easily. Now we have to wait on retest number three to compare to the March '03 final bottom - but we'll be much higher buy then and will only provide a buying opportunity for those left at the station. Today was a day to be fully loaded.

I may be repeating myself - the biggest up years in stock market history occur immediately after panic down years. Tomorrow is Friday the 13th and the next eleven trading days could make the lily padders wish....stock markets bottom when almost no one expects it.

I feel you. Especially after the past 3 days. I'm very happy to be catching the ups with my Roth. But wish I had not already used up my IFTs. Ah well, at least I'll be making $$$ with the Roth.

Well... we got good golfing weather down here and the grass is starting to get greener. The oldest daughter (9yr old) and I are in a scramble this weekend and she's strapping it around 150 straight down the middle with her driver on the range. Seems like a good time for me to get out to the G and let the market do what it wants.

Who knows, maybe make some more positive moves in April. :)

Congrats on your good March 350z... now get out and work on that short game!!!

Thanks Minnow. And no worries about the hoax.

This is a tough bear market. It's safer to do a hit and run. Sure, I missed out on some gains, but +5% is not bad. Until the bull market returns, I'll keep using this strategy. 1-2% gains each month is doable, if I keep my discipline.

Good luck in your scramble. 150 yards for a 9 yr old is awesome! It's still too cold around here.

Yup... 1 - 2% is doable for the determined (and lucky) TSPer. Discipline is the key. I've just been lucky I guess to get into positive territory. Although I have noticed that I tend to pay attention to the same things that you and Corepuncher tend to pay attention to.

150 yards down the middle for my girl is great but I did say on the range. She tends to get inside her own helmet sometimes... just like her dad. When she gets on the course itself, some of the good range swing mechanics tend to go out the window. But right now she is well ahead of the curve and she has a good mind and disposition for the game. Plus she actually likes to practice chipping better than putting or driving. Go figure that one !?!

Have a good weekend... (I know you will 'cuz you're safely tucked into G). :D
