<<also noticed the number of members is growing daily.>>

Actually Chicago, the site currently gets over2000 visits a day and about 600 have joined the email alert list. I'm surprised how few have joined the message board so far.I assume there are a lot of people who are just watchingand learning. I think we've got a few heads spinning. But that's what this site is all about. In a month or so they will know so much more than they used to.

78Vette -

1. Do you think the TSP board will ever limit the number of transfers daily/weekly, etc.?

Not in the near future. I don't think it is causing too many problems. This was from an article in The Washington Post last week

"Only 146participants (of the plan's 3.2 million members) have traded more frequently than twice a week."

I don't see how it would affect TSP negatively. Everything is done electronically, except for those mailed paper confirmations which I believe they should make available via email.

2. Have you ever thought of just putting 20% in each fund and forgetting about it?

No.That's not for me but it may be for someone who doesn't really want to spend the time managing their account. There are too many arguments for and against this to go in to.I do track the 20% allocationon my returns page as a reference.

Tom and others,

A couple of questions:

1. Do you think the TSP board will ever limit the number of transfers daily/weekly, etc.?

2. Have you ever thought of just putting 20% in each fund and forgetting about it?

Thanks, Todd:shock:

Yeah, watching from the sidelines is a lot more fun. Tomorrow I join the battle. It may not be so fun :)

Speaking of battle, I want to say hello to the soldiers in Bagdad who have joined and have been sending emails! :dude: Quite a different battle out there.

It sure is. Looks like you picked a good day to jump in. Boogie jumped in a day early and took it on the chin today. The real bounce might be in the I. It's really sold off the last few days. I'm kind of wishing that I would have pulled the trigger today. On the other hand, since we are now solidly through the 50 day moving averages that I mentioned earlier, who knows where the next level of support will be. Sure is fun watching, though.:D

No Tom I did not get it. :(

I did however make a change too just about the same time.

I went with 70% S & 30% C. Just got out of the I.

Gotafraidofit for the time being.

Probably a good move. Like I said in a response to boogie yesterday, the S&P and the Nasdaq are both hovering near their 50 day moving averages. Since they seem to be holding today, that bodes well for a bounce of up to 3 or 4 percent. Having said that I didn't pull the trigger again today. I'm betting the bounce will fail and we will break through those 50 day moving averages and there will a further decline of 3 or 4 %. This bull market is a year old now and in that time there has not been a 5 % pullback so we are overdue. Unfortunately I've been sticking to this line of thinking since I jumped out of the S on Jan 20th and I've missed several nice runs. I'm pretty pleased with the 6% I've got this year but it could easily have been 10-12% if I would just get some nerve and jump back in on these bounces.

I am going to initiate a transfer this morning before the 12 noon EST deadline. I decided to stick my toe in the water and make a short term transfer into the stock funds. I'm going 50% S, 10% C, keeping 25% in the I and 15% in the G funds. It will be effective on Thursday. You won't see this in today's comments since I can't usually update them during the day.

This will be a short term transfer as I believe there will be one one more shake out in the the coming days.
