Everyone,

I just went through the 2011 calendar and found the following for my agency:

27 pay periods ($16,500/27=$611.11 for max contribution concerns)

3 - 3 PP months (April, July, December)

Your pay periods may differ, so adjust your contributions accordingly!

Well dayam, Frixxxx, I missed that, already made my calcs and submitted contrib. change for the next pp based on 26pp and 15%.

so my first pp. contrib will be more than 15% of the gross, and I'll lose the matching until pp 2 kicks in (when I make the adjustment). true story? :(

You will not lose any matching until the last few pp if you are invest more than $635 pp. You can adjust up and down for each pp as long as you are not go over 16.5K for the year + catch up for anyone over 50yoa in 2011. For 15% pp to lose the matching you have to earn more than $110K and most with the high locality pay locations for GS13 and above.

For DHS the NFC still reflects 26 pp for 2011. http://i2i.nfc.usda.gov/Forms/1217n_11.pdf

Ah! I feel better now. thanks SWAVET. I'm not a 13-yet. still time-if I was willing to relocate. Maybe down the road apiece, just not right now-not unless I'm forced to go jobhunting again the way I was between 03-06-for budget downsizing reasons.

Somehow for the moment there is a certain element of fiscal rationality in staying under that 13 level and staying in affordable location where I can max out the tsp finally.
