12%ayear's Account Talk

Although it sucks losing any form of money. Remember the bottom-line, when things look really bad, they are not. The CPI comes out tomorrow. I am staying fully invested,no time to run and hide. This is the time to buy. Every fund has been killed since July. It goes to show you that it only takes a month or less to deplete your TSP account. Nature of the beast.Watch how these sharks find some postive news and run with it. The FED has to cut or they will get nailed by everyone.

All they have to do is lower the discount window rate by 0.25% as a signal and that way they can leave the Fed funds rate at 5.25% to continue on with the inflation fight.

CPI better be good to save us today. Watch for a FED CUT today. Here is the real problem, people are getting denied mortgages with great credit because banks are afraid to lend money out. The FED has to cut or they will see the entire USA economy fall apart. The longer they wait the worst it will get.

With all the liquidity that the Fed pumped into the market on three day buy back programs, won't the Fed hesitate to cut until after those three expire? If that is irrelevant, do you think the Fed will announce it shortly aftr the CPI numbers? I'm thinking if they don't announce it by 10:00 am EST it safe to assume it's not going to happen today.

I see no Fed rate cut today or next week. Core CPI still above thier comfort zone. But the biggest reason, I think, is the BOJ's meeting on August 23, next week. From thier recent comments, it seems that the BOJ is hell bent on hiking next week. If the Fed were to cut before the 23, it would undermine the BOJ's plans. Not to mention killing the Yen carry trade.

IMHO, the Fed won't cut until a bank fails or job numbers go negative.

The Fed will cut on their terms ( usless politics comes into play from the Whitehouse). They're not about to be forced prematurely into changing their plans because of strong arm tactics from wall street. Its a test now to see who has the bigger club.

That is right the Fed will do nothing. Ben has beat the inflation drum continuously and a rate cut will make him look like a moron.

No matter what he does it will be wrong. Don't cut rate and he screwed the housing industry. Do cut rate and he is a puppet of the housing industy and the hedge funds.

oh boy, this one is getting very nasty. Dollar is overbought vs. Euro. The loses are gathering steam across the board. Time to panic? no Time to buy? yes...We are getting the sell-off that we have been waiting for years. Real estate is crumbling and banks are running to close the doors with leanding money out. The fed better step up here or consumers will cause a recession.

Ben has to cut, or the R word will be thrown around everywhere. Financial sector is broken, technically, fundamentally, and geopolitically (thanks for that term, Grif.) But when will he cut?

Here we go....Amgen to Cut Up to 2,600 Jobs http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/070815/amgen...ring.html?.v=5
Just a start, unless we get some Fed action in the markets. More companies will be cutting back because of less demand for products. Look at Home Depot, they are having a very hard time selling the supply store. They said they will have to cut stock buybacks by 50% if deal falls apart. Also we are not factoring in any terrorist attack or hurricanes. The market is very very fragile and needs a boast of Vitamin C by Uncle Ben
