Have you heard anything about if the debt limit is reached the Treasury may suspend the daily reinvestment of the Treasury securities held by the G Fund in the Thrift Saving plan?
I just discovered the Visitor Messages feature. OK. I like this guy's way with words, Bill Strazzullo, Bell Curve Trading: walking thru a mine field to pick up a quarter. http://www.cnbc.com/id/44206331
MW says simply next week will have more high volatility.

Just got back from watching Larry Crowne for $1.50 at the mall with the wife; she saw it already. The foreclosure thing hits close enough -- people she knows from work. This money-making thing called a job is priceless.
I'm curious about what event you are expecting that will lead to a decline in the US small caps but leave the large caps and international funds intact. This 61 year old rural mail carrier plans to continue working as long as I'm healthy and view my TSP as very long term. Thus, I'm all in.
Birchtree - this past July I took a `sort-a-leave-of-absence ; consequently, your birthday came and went.
I've read the posts - I am glad you survived & had a thorough great time! :D
Birch, You can relax now. Looks like the oil spill is fixed. You and your hold em policy was really starting to **** me. We hung in there. Don't know if I could do it again. I think I'll play it more like a retirees account from now on. Thanks just the same.
    Hello Birch,
Watching for a jump up tomorrow. GS earnings are said to be very good. I have first hand knowledge of how gov't bureaucrats won't cause too much of a problem for the big private a sector companies. I worked for the USDA in DC and was working next to the crop regulating office when Monsanto wanted to genetically modify crops. Their fingers (lobbiests/lawyers)were deep in the pie and our office had to let it happen. So too is GS a big money cooperation and I think they will budge a little (maybe for show) and maybe some other money companies could react somewhat to the latest move by the SEC. But like you say, I think TSP investors in the stocks will be OK, especially with today's market bounce as an indicator. Thanks for your insight and posts on this matter Thursday, Friday and today.
    Hello Birch,
How's Florida? Always wanted to live there. Ever talk with Robert Mason? Anyway I'm trying to hang tough during the GS stuff. I believe that the markets were going for a correction hours prior to the GS news. However my question is this: on the Money Chanel last night, the futures show a Monday set to act like Friday. How can a newby like me hang in there with that kind of news? Keep 'em flying.
Thanks for all the times you've shared your insights. I appreciate what you bring to the MB.
It appears things are things are looking up! I changed my allocations to 70 C, 15 I and 15 S. I moved that 6000 old money out of the F and into the C. And I upped my contribution to 20% for the next 8 months before I retire. Funny...I thought you were a female, but from reading other messages, I am thinking that is not the case! Nonetheless, thanks for your input. I think the first thing that drew me to you was the birchtree...I have 2 lovely ones in my yard. See how things happen! Have a great weekend...
