World Cup 2014 has been amazing. More goals in the 1st 4 days than the whole 2010 cup total...or so it would seem. No draws and hardly a shut-out. It seems as if the goal mouths and the nets inside them are sucking any close ball into the posts and crossbars. USA took on Ghana, huge game ! Ghana has eliminated the US in the last two cups, but not this year. We got passed them and now it's on to Portugal and Ronaldo (hubba-hubba). And after that Germany (hottest guys in the league).

How did that parable about David and Goliath end again? GO USA !!! The game starts at 12PM HST on ESPN.....6PM EST.

Locked on to the television ..... USA plays Portugal in 20 minutes .... go USA!!! :toung:

Still a damn good game. Wow. We're all fans now, I suppose.

A great game! The ending was unfortunate for us, but incredible just the same -- a great example of what makes soccer an incredible game (something I only learned from my kids).

It's great to hear that more and more people are interested in watching soccer, especially since the USA team is doing well...yes, even after our gut punch loss yesterday. The excitement of the game is contagious all over the country. Here are some pics of die hard US soccer fans.

This Thursday it's USA vs. Germany at 12PM EST. Set your DVR's if you're a fan. I'll be able to watch the 1st hour at 6AM HST before I go to work...I don't have a DVR, TiVo or what ever is used to record tv shows, so I'll catch the highlights when I get home. Here is an article on the different scenarios in which the US can advance.

Yesterday's U.S. v Portugal game probably did more to advance U.S. Soccer than any commercial or homegrown initiative. The U.S. squad played well - aggressively! - for nearly the entire game. That's what casual fans want to see and the U.S. brought it in spades. The television coverage is now watchable with high definition, and the commentary is spot-on. It's now fun to watch soccer. Hope to see the U.S. team keep winning.

Yep, yep, yep ..... fire up the cheering section. Germany is a very stout team ..... USA is an underdog (perfect place to be) & will need to play an aggressive/smart game. We need to provide them all the encouragement we can muster .... cheer loudly :D

Some experts are predicting a tie in the US/Germany game, since for Germany, one of the top 3 teams in the world,is assured of clinching the top group spot with a tie.
This would allow Germany to rest some players, avoid pushing it to the limit and incurring injuries. Thus they don't have an incentive to play too aggressively.

If a tie occurs, US automatically qualifies as the no 2 team in the group.
If Ghana and Portugal tie, the US advances even if it loses vs Germany.
Even if the US loses by 2 goals to Germany and Portugal wins over Ghana by 1 goal, US still advances.
Nice spot to be in. :D

First World Cup that I saw from start to finish was 1982.
The Brazil team that year was probably the best team ever to NOT win the world cup.
They destroyed every team they played with artistic quality never seen before or since.
Fluke 3-2 loss to Italy team that was totally outplayed by Brazil ended the run.
But the 11 goals Brazil scored were some of the best ever...esp the last one on the video near the 5 min marker.
Tribute video to their late coach Tele Santana who was one of the best creative/offensive soccer coaches in soccer history.

Otherwise...Go U-S-A Today!!!!!
