Folks,
I've been told, by several folks, that when I begin collecting my SS monthly pension at age 62, that my wife can also collect her's ( of course reduced ) at the same time. She will be 59 when I hit 62. Her monthly pension is somehow based on a percent of mine at a given age. I'm not sure it's 62 or 65. I just turned 61, so i'm just trying to get an idea of some numbers and how my wife can collect hers.
I was told this when I retired in 2011, so of course I've forgotten what they said. Does this ring a bell with anyone?
TIA,
CB
