Wafa Sultan's observations and critique of Islam are blunt, succinct and deserve wider consideration. But her broad stroke criticisms using qualifers like all rather than some or most seems unfortunately typical in a society that demands explanations and positions be 30 second sound bites. For example, her observation that the great technological achievements over the last century or two have come out of western (Judeo Christian) countries not Islamic countries, blatantly disregards what key scientific innovations came out of Islam in the middle ages. Likewise, over the last 1500 years often Islamic societies have offered protection to some persercuted Christians and Jews.
But in the Wiki sources on Sultan, the LA rabbi who compared her to Ann Colter, is like comparing someone who tosses a cigarette out the car window and starts a grass brush fire to someone always looking to start major forest fires.
