White House stokes debt-ceiling crisis
By Jennifer Rubin
A Republican aide e-mails me: “The Speaker, Sen. Reid and Sen. McConnell all agreed on the general framework of a two-part plan. A short-term increase (with cuts greater than the increase), combined with a committee to find long-term savings before the rest of the increase would be considered. Sen. Reid took the bipartisan plan to the White House and the President said no.”
If this is accurate the president is playing with fire. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...eiling-crisis/2011/03/29/gIQAvx8DYI_blog.html

BREAKING NEWS. Sens Reid and Schumer, stalwarts of fiscal restraint, defenders of the nation in the face of global competition, truthsayers extraordinaire, say in their press conference at this hour, that Speaker Boehner and the Republicans are pursuing their harmful path just because they don't like Mr. O. They will make their own proposal and if the recalcitrant evil Republicans don't accept it, they are to blame for the future mess. And the whole mess is the fault of Mr. Bush. Market yawns.

I can't believe they actually think we don't see right thru the smoke and mirrors. They actually believe we are THAT STUPID. That makes me more upset than the fact that they can't agree on.... well anything... but they think they are fooling us!!!!!!!!
And they try to scare us by saying things like "Grand Pa and Grand Ma will not get their SS checks". THAT'S THEIR MONEY ANYWAY...... OK don't get me going.....

Those fools in the Senate because of dirty Harry wouldn't even entertain the cut, cap and balance bill that passed in the House. 17 of them will be gone in 2012.

That was a pretty nasty press conference, to be sure. The politics on both sides is getting worse instead of better. I'm guessing that a deal will be made but it may take Houdini to make it happen.

NFL lockout is now over. Now to get this little thing settled. Big gains on the day of the agreement, I think, but how far down do we go beforehand?

No, I think that this has so much influence on the state of the Markets that we need to keep informed of what's happening or in this case NOT HAPPENING.

U.S. Senate
Congress Warned of Credit 'Downgrade' if War Savings Counted as Deficit Reduction
By Judson Berger

Senate Democrats' inclusion in their proposed debt package of $1 trillion in savings from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan may not satisfy ratings agencies threatening a credit downgrade since the wars were expected to end with or without a debt deal.
The budget gimmick is one that has been used by both parties. President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner had earlier considered employing it during discussions that have since broken down. Now Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid is using the trick in his $2.7 trillion deficit-reduction plan, according to aides. Boehner has not indicated where he would draw his savings, totaling up to $3 trillion.

I agree with Nnuut. The TSP funds are being directly impacted by the outcome of this deal.

Now, the image you posted is another story.

Maybe both sides know when they will agree, but are trying to lower share values before they transfer their retirement funds into stocks. They have the best chance of getting in before the deal is announced.
