Unwanted tabs opening in chrome

Over the last week or so I have been redirected to a page similar to the ad page above (the ad for JEWLR). Not all the time but every once in awhile. Only on the home computer (windows 10/edge) not my government computer (still windows 7). It will happen when I click to view another post or sometimes when I want to respond to a post. Again not all the time. I just ignored it.

When I went to reply to this thread I found the first part under "restored content”. Not sure why I never sent it or the date attached.

Same subject and below in italics.

Not sure if this belongs under win10 or chrome. Since both topics are under the bulletin board and further search finds
wwwdottsptalkdotcom/mb/report-problems/Unwanted tabs opening in chrome it is here. I cannot seem to get rid of adware that constantly redirects me to zeevah, apple kungfu, redirect, liveadexchanger…
After trying a few things I cold restarted and went to tsptalk. I clicked on the logo at the top left and immediately got a new window McAffee Website Safety advising me not to go to the following: liveadexchangerdotcom/a/display.php?r=10
.. liveadexchangerdotcom/a/displaydotphp?r

I have scanned the computer with Mcaffee and Windows Defender and they find no problem. I find a lot of stuff about this on the internet but it all leads to downloading yet another app. I have deleted chrome and reinstalled it, no change. I am getting the same issues with edge. I hate edge.

I am NOT saying this is a TSPTalk issue but I do go to another forum using an older version of vBulletin and do not get redirected.

I confess I am lost with win10 and cannot find things I could before such as start menu. I see nothing installed or in the chrome adons that would do this. I have tried going to regedit but win10 says I am not the admin. Awwwwhhhhh. I am so uneducated about what win 10 won’t let me do.

Frustrating. Please keep your suggestions about ubuntu or linux virtual machines to yourselves. I have enough of that at work trying to keep legacy software working. Not yet. All I want to do is serf tsptalk without getting all these new tabs. I should have said surf but serf is probably the right term for knowledge about current operating systems.

Now on to the current post.
I uninstalled chrome a while ago and searched for all files and registry references to google and deleted them.

Since then I have been using Avast Safe Zone, which appears much like chrome, and still have the unwanted tabs problem.

I searched the internet and did try running one of the "cleaners" with the result that the tabs continued plus new tabs taking me to the "cleaner" suggesting I upgrade to a paid version.

I go to one other place that uses vbulletin and do not have this problem. I do not seem to have this problemn elsewhere on the vast interweb.

Many times when I click on username at the top of the forum page to log in I get a new tab open.

Here is a log of my last hour or so on TSPTalk using Avast Safe Zone. It is preventing a lot of redirects but not all. Closing the unwanted tab allows me to go back to TSPTalk.

clicked on business news in last post by column and a tab opened to Dating!. The tab taking me to http://www.tsptalk.com/mb/business-news/ remained open.

clicked on market videos in the same column and got a tab open to https://www.wizard101.com/create_wizard/.

clicked on page 2 of 2 in forums new posts and got a new tab to the above flirt site

clicked on page 2 of 2 again in forums new posts and pipes channel took me to appparkcentral.com wanting me to update flash player

clicked on page 2 of 2 again in forums new posts and something called redirect opened a new tab to shoppingdress.club

clicked on tsptalks's market talk and got redirect to open a tab to http://dashbo15myapp.com/

clicked on new posts in forum, tab opens to meet asian women

clicked on coolhands account top and live ad exchange opened a tab taking me to ecstaticcomputer.com/bn.php

clicked on the thinking of the left in forums new posts and got a new tab showing redirect and musictab.

clicking on nasa1974's account talk brought an adexchange tab to download PC Cure+

clicking on ravensfans account talk gets a redirect tab to #1 Game

clicking on mcducks account talk brings up convert something opening wizard 101 free games

Not saying this is a TSPTalk problem, just letting you know. Not saying this is realated to any user. Chill out.

The interwweb search results about this suggest it is a Win 10 problem or even a router problem. Eliminating the router would be a good test but I have a problem with down time for users.

If anyone has any suggestions please reply. This is making reading all the fine posts on TSPTalk less pleasureable.

The urls I posted still do not show up entirely and when I hover over them they show redirect to.

Maybe related to this? http://www.tsptalk.com/mb/report-problems/26162-pop-ups-anyone-still-seeing-them.html.

As I stated in that thread my problem was not pop ups but either getting redirected to a new tab or a new tab opening. This was with chrome.

I uninstalled chrome back then and was using edge. I do not like edge much. So today I reinstalled chrome. Chrome found some old bookmarks or history so obviously I did not get rid of everything.

I opened TSPTalk and went to forums and when I clicked on user name to log in I get a new tab to liveadexchanger.com. My av warned me against going there. I ignored the tab.

I clicked on What exactly is Personal Investment Performance (PIP) and how do I calculate it? Another tab opened showing this url - "http://watermelon-shake.com/r?token...ate it?,rate of return, automatic, agency, match,"

I had to put the quotes around it or it would not show up in the post.

When I hovered over the above thread, chrome showed me http://www.tsptalk.com/mb/questions...formance-pip-how-do-i-calculate-new-post.html. Which is where I wanted to go.

Then I clicked on another link, sorry not sure which one, and got a tab opened to: http://watermelon-shake.com/r?token...nment,search results, tsp talk, tsptalk, tsp gov,

I am thinking this is a local problem. I thought I had deleted all favorites and browsing history but was only deleting 1/2 hours worth. You have to go to a pull down and "delete from the beginning of time". Any advice on what these tokens are and where they are stored would be appreciated.
