When I went to reply to this thread I found the first part under "restored content”. Not sure why I never sent it or the date attached.
Same subject and below in italics.
Not sure if this belongs under win10 or chrome. Since both topics are under the bulletin board and further search finds
wwwdottsptalkdotcom/mb/report-problems/Unwanted tabs opening in chrome it is here. I cannot seem to get rid of adware that constantly redirects me to zeevah, apple kungfu, redirect, liveadexchanger…
After trying a few things I cold restarted and went to tsptalk. I clicked on the logo at the top left and immediately got a new window McAffee Website Safety advising me not to go to the following: liveadexchangerdotcom/a/display.php?r=10.. liveadexchangerdotcom/a/displaydotphp?r
I have scanned the computer with Mcaffee and Windows Defender and they find no problem. I find a lot of stuff about this on the internet but it all leads to downloading yet another app. I have deleted chrome and reinstalled it, no change. I am getting the same issues with edge. I hate edge.
I am NOT saying this is a TSPTalk issue but I do go to another forum using an older version of vBulletin and do not get redirected.
I confess I am lost with win10 and cannot find things I could before such as start menu. I see nothing installed or in the chrome adons that would do this. I have tried going to regedit but win10 says I am not the admin. Awwwwhhhhh. I am so uneducated about what win 10 won’t let me do.
Frustrating. Please keep your suggestions about ubuntu or linux virtual machines to yourselves. I have enough of that at work trying to keep legacy software working. Not yet. All I want to do is serf tsptalk without getting all these new tabs. I should have said surf but serf is probably the right term for knowledge about current operating systems.
Now on to the current post.
I uninstalled chrome a while ago and searched for all files and registry references to google and deleted them.
Since then I have been using Avast Safe Zone, which appears much like chrome, and still have the unwanted tabs problem.
I searched the internet and did try running one of the "cleaners" with the result that the tabs continued plus new tabs taking me to the "cleaner" suggesting I upgrade to a paid version.
I go to one other place that uses vbulletin and do not have this problem. I do not seem to have this problemn elsewhere on the vast interweb.
Many times when I click on username at the top of the forum page to log in I get a new tab open.
Here is a log of my last hour or so on TSPTalk using Avast Safe Zone. It is preventing a lot of redirects but not all. Closing the unwanted tab allows me to go back to TSPTalk.

Not saying this is a TSPTalk problem, just letting you know. Not saying this is realated to any user. Chill out.
The interwweb search results about this suggest it is a Win 10 problem or even a router problem. Eliminating the router would be a good test but I have a problem with down time for users.
If anyone has any suggestions please reply. This is making reading all the fine posts on TSPTalk less pleasureable.
