Greg,

That drop looksbrutal - but the higher we go in value the more volatility we will experience. This move downward all in an afternoon is preferable to doing it over a couple of days. This move really only mildly compares with some of the down days that were experienced in 2000 and 2001. We will hold support at 1200 and spring or boing up from here. Corporate insiders (? smart money) are more bullish currently than they have been anytime since May 2003 when the Dow was at around 8,500.

Why are corporate insiders selling at record levels?:)

DMA,

In reality they are not selling at record levels - they are selling at a ratio of 2.52. The normal ratio is closer to 6.5 to 1. Therefore, the current ratio of 2.52 suggests that insiders (smart money?) are selling at much less than normal levels. As recently as last December 04, this 8-week ratio stood at 6.40. In May 03 the ratio was at 2.44. Why is a ratio of 2.52 positive. The answer is that insiders always are selling more of their stock than they are purchasing. That's not the issue. Instead, the question is whether they are buying or selling more than the historical norm. Presently they are more bullish than at any time since May 2003.
